True we don't need any more here but we do need to get rid of those abomidable airport buses. Takes up too many seats.

Well I think its safe to say that Annex will be Boring in the future no matter what we get. And fix those Airport Buses sell them to BWI.

I understand the The Annex needs them, but Landover unless I'm missing something the only express route assigned to Landover is the B30.  This is why I was questioning why would landover need any more suburban buses than the Orion Vs they already have.  Yes, I would agree that Montgomery used to have far more suburban seaters than they needed.  I always though it was odd when all of the D40LFR suburbans went to Montgomery.  Yes, I also saw them doing local routes daily too.

NYCTA and MTAB are currently taking delivery of an 850 bus order of Orion 07 NG hybrids.  They're a little over halfway.  They start at 3800 and now they're up to the 4300s.

NYCTA is also getting 90 Designline hybrids.  One unit #1302 is in service.  There also an order for 90 NovaBUS LFA artics.  Also, it's said that they will order some Prevost X3-45s for express service.

Yesterday at Bethesda Station I saw nothing but suburban 6200s on the J7/J9 (except for a DE40LF). Didn't someone say that the latter 6450s/6460s would be suburban seaters? if so, then those will probably be at Montgomery

So let me try to get this all straight:

The Flxibles are all retired minus some Metro E's put into reserve.
Landover and Montgomery are going to hand over their D40LFR's to Annex.
What then replaces the retired Flxibles and the D40LFR's at Landover and Montgomery, since the combined number of both is a lot more than the 40 LFA's each garage is getting?

Also, if Annex is such a rough division, why aren't they getting Orion V's or even Orion VII's from Landover/Montgomery; something older that can take abuse?

All will have the same transit (local service) interior.  On the exterior the only difference is that the 3800 & 3900 series has different batteries from the rest.

One more thing if some Metro Es are put into reserve then they'll be moved around like the 93/9400s are now. Plus since the Southeastern Closing I bet alot of divisions are Jam packed so maybe they need breathing space since another bus order is supposed to be in for next year.

Annex isn't suitable for hybrids because of the height clearance of the battery compartment as well as the age and condition of the garage.

I'm not sure that's true I remember 1 year ago on my graduation day I was come out of shoppers and I saw some Orion VIIs go into the garage, did some routes, then later that day they I saw one that looked like it was getting worked on, they were 2 week lends. Then after that same episode 2 C40LF's went in side did some routes came back and was getting worked on. Maybe Annex had portable CNG pumps.

Lets see. They're airport buses for a reason. They need luggage racks for the large parcels that travelers have. Having some of the suburban 6200s would be best since they would be put to better use.

I wish they would do this right now. But that probably won't happen until it's time for the Orion Vs to be retired. Probably not for another 6 years.

Never say never. It could happen. I mean he Orion Vs perform very well in most conditions and have stood up very well. Had they been mainly in local service on these rough streets, they'd be in worse condition than a highway bus.

branded buses don't have to be retired to be replaced...take a look at the old 38B buses and old Pike Ride buses and old REX buses, they are now normal-schemed Orion VIs in other divisions.

Besides, if they were replaced on B30 duty by the 6200s, they could always remove the luggage racks and even go back to normal seating if they wanted to, but who knows...

not the best pic but it's my only one of a pike ride Orion VI, it's 2022 on the 38B at Rosslyn...this was one of the last Orion VIs remaining at FMR, it then moved to Landover.

Why do you say Annex is a rough division? They're buses look perfectly fine to me. Truly they could get any buses if they wanted to they did have CNGs for 2 weeks. Annex may be old, but they can still keep their buses decent.
