Nextbus Observations

I'm starting to think there are some buses with GPS units from other buses that haven't been renumbered. Also, there are other phantom bus numbers showing up. I also wonder if these number show up on their fixed end CAD/AVL at BOCC.

Well... That possibility (which seems quite possible to me) has been suggested way back when folks were posting about Ikaurus #5205 being assigned to Western.

I went to Mt Pleasant shortly after seeing "9742" on nextbus. Apparently, it was none other than 3766. I waited there until I saw the same bus twice, first it was 3770, then 3766, then 6476, then 3770 again. Looking at the H8 at this very moment on nextbus, you see all those buses that I mentioned, but instead of 3766, it says 9742.

well so much for that, but man how wild that would have been if she was kept for revenue service

It's due time for a better AVL system that is much more reliable than the current one. There was an RFP out for a better integrated system but it's gone now and no idea whether it was cancelled or what. What I've noticed is that these special schedules don't seem to reflect too well on the public side in trying to track a bus since it'll probably load up another route that isn't on the current schedule day or won't track it at all.

That could be true. There was one on the 80 couple months back.

It's as likely as the time when some had 5205 being at Western. I'd bet the rent that it was never there.
