Ladies and gentlemen, the DCATZ Photo Gallery is now open.  This is the very beginning phase of implementing a huge archive of transit-related multimedia.  A lot of work has gone into finding the right system to keep this library organized, and we hope you'll find this as easy to navigate as we do.

If you would like to post your own photos, please say so in this thread so I can give you a posting password.  Also, we will take print photos and slides for scanning and posting -- you will be fully credited.

The address: http://www.dctransit.info/gallery

Now that we have the message board software up and running and the photo gallery software up and running, my next non-content priority is getting everything integrated so that you don't feel like you left the site altogether every time you want to look at pictures.

Tristan,

I took several photos that ended up on nycsubway.org -- (of course, back then, that was about the only place to post them)  I'll get copies and send them over to you.

I have several pics that I took some time ago on my Friday trips. I might be able to contribute after I do a little tweaking.

I wouldn't mind posting a few of my own goodies in the gallery, go ahead and set it up.
It is whatever.

Trsitan,

I definitely would like to post pics here.  I have tons over on Photobucket.  Would you like for me to post some of those here?  If you'd like to browse them and select some photos, that's fine with me too.

I need 3-5 beta testers to poke at the system and make sure it holds up, before I put it out there for public consumption.  Any volunteers?

Tristan, you know I'd love to try it...I have many digital photos that I've taken over the years, plus, if I can ever get a scanner, I can start to scan the maps and images that are with each article (Retro Metro's)

I will see about getting a scanner to you - the magnitude of your collection is something that must be preserved!

Tristan, or, AND I'M TRUSTING YOU ON THIS ONE -- I can try to send you articles in segments (with each opening, like when the Ballston segment opened) -- if it's easier for you to scan there, then send them back here.  You ought to see the collection that Sand Box John has .. his is more of the technical side, whereas mine is more on the printed side, with documentation and press releases and other collectibles -- what ever is easier for you works for me.

I appreciate your trust, and for that reason I must ask for a deferment of this offer...only because my office is so crowded and junky right now that, if I had your articles today, they'd probably get lost.  I'll take you up on that later.  Thanks for the offer.

What ever you say my friend -- I'll follow your lead -- but you are rght about one thing -- A collection such as mine is meant to be shared --
