Usuallt on my DC visits, I don't typically see anything of note - today was a pleasant exception.

Met up with Rideonrulez and rode to 7 Corners on the 4A (4077), then over to WFC on the 28B, and onto Tysons Westpark on the 427 and saw nothing of note, but did see one of the new Artics on the outbound 1042a 5A at Tysons-Westpark.  Otherwise, standard fare.

After taking the inbound 5A (Orion VII Subn) back into town and getting lunch at Ollie's Trolley (highly recommended), we rolled toward the Smithsonian only to see repainted Neo Artic (presumably 5311) heading down the 52 routing.  We tried to wait for it to come back, but it never did, having apparently interlined to a 54, (or it may have been a deadhead or training bus).  As we headed up to the 52/54 junction to see if we could encounter it, we saw none other than a Flx B working BASE SERVICE on the D6 heading West.

After some deliberation, we opted to head West to cut off the Flx B on its way back into town, and caught it at Q & Wisconsin.  It was none other than "mule" Flx B #9305 ("mule since it has a Flx E rear).

We roll back into town to get some more pics and clips, and find the X2 sporting an interesting medley of equipment:
C40LFR #2824
Orion VII #2633
John Deere C40LF #2464

Time has now passed, and we decide to see if we can get another good Flx B ride in on #9305 heading back to Sibley.  On our arrival, #2631 crosses us Eastbound on the D6, and luck is with us as the next D6 to show is indeed #9305.

On our arrival at Sibley, I conspire to try to ride the #D5 out to Mass. Ave, but the #23 (99 Gillig) shows up first which we ride out to Friendship Heights, where we get a couple of dusk shots.  We board the #11 to head over to Silver Spring and just before we pull off, I see a New Flyer painted in the brand new scheme deadheading via e/b Western to s/b Wisconsin!  We suspect this may have come off the D5 that didn't show up for us - MISSED IT BY THAT MUCH!!!

Things got a little less interesting from there.  A decent amount of Flx D's at Silver Spring for the short time I was there.  I had to get MARC out, so I rolled out.  In doing so, I passed a Baby Gillig on the #18, a Flx E on the #70, and Flx D #9835 on the J4.

I was in DC yesterday. I saw 5311 on the 70. You must have been in DC the same time I  was because I saw 2824 on the X2 at Minnesota Ave Station.

Three questions:

Didn't Annex used to do the M6?

Is Annex the only division that does the 34? Yesterday all I saw was Metro E's on that line. I specifically remember seeing 4005 on that line.

When some buses get the new express theme is it going to be curvey like the local theme or slanted like Metro Extra?

M6 and 34 should both be Annex.  Keep in mind that the current 34 is really just an extension of the short lived M5.

I don't understand the question about the paint scheme.  It is hard to say what a paint scheme that doesn't exist yet as far as we know looks like.

The 34 is discontinued.

The M5 was renamed 34 this past Sunday and it was extended to Archives.

As for the M6 all I saw was Bladensburg on that route. I specifically remember, while on the V7, seeing an Orion VII on that route with a block BM01. And  then when I  was on the N22, I saw a C40lf that too. So I guess Bladensburg does that line now. But I do know Annex used to do that line.

I was at King Street on the Metro platform this afternoon and saw what appeared to be a freshly painted Orion VII/CNG with no ads pulled in, signed for REX.  This bus, however, also did not have the banner with the trees on the CNG tank, nor did it say THIS BUS RUNS ON COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS on either side.  No photo since my camera wasn't out and my train was pulling in.

Also saw 5546 up at Silver Spring on the 22, I didn't realize this bus was still in service.  WMATA 9825's (it was a Metro-D, I don't recall the exact number) right rear turn signal wasn't working well, something I don't think I've ever seen with LED signals.  I was on a 1 on EW Highway behind this bus on the J2 and the lower signal was flickering and sometimes didn't even come on at all.

Finally, WMATA quietly moved the even 30s stop at Friendship Heights to where the E6 had been stopping once the terminal reopened (the old T2 bay).  I didn't try figuring out where they moved the E6 and FH Shuttle to however, but giving more space for the 30s isn't a horrible idea.

Here an observation for you. At approximately 10:56 while watching CNN a 30ft Orion VII on the N22 passed the camera. How often are 30fts on the N22?
