Anyone down for a group field trip?  We haven't had a good one in the DC area since the SubChat trip in 2003, and our group is a lot bigger now.

Although it's winter time, it hasn't been *that* cold yet, so who's down for a little bit of bus and rail riding during winter break?  Maybe a "goodbye to paper transfers" trip before _EVERYONE_ has to get SmarTrip cards.

I think some time around mid-December until about the beginning of January would be good because everyone will be out of school or could get out of work (possibly), plus it'll give us all some pep to work on DCATZ during hibernation  :-)

So, if you're down, name some dates in that range when you know you'll be free, and indicate your favorite bus and rail routes or things you want to see, and maybe we can get an itinerary together.

Excellent idea.  I am down for whatever whenever.  Unfortunately all of the routes I would like to ride are suburban routes that have no return service unless you want to spend the night in Hagerstown or North Beach (lol).

You can count me in. I got to use some of this leave time before the end of the year.

I'm cool with any route/bus as long as it's not a cutaway!!

Great idea.  Count me in.  I'm usually OK for any day with advance notice, but if possible, I'd like to avoid the time between Dec 22 and Jan 2 as I've already committed to not taking off during that time.

I agree with WMA Veteran, but since we don't want to get stranded I guess we need something else.  I wouldn't mind passing through some of lower PG county and into VA for some Flx Metro-B & E rides.  Maybe some Fairfax Connector too seeing as I'm way overdue.

Seems like a good idea. I just need to know the set date and to see if I can. I might be working over winter break on campus, but if it's a Friday, then I'm definitely up for it.

Tristan already has my dates of availability, but Monday-Thursday are much better for me than Fridays (I might need to bail a bit early on a Friday, depending on how late into PM rush we want to go).  I'm up for pretty much anything, and it will be nice to see everyone else again.

I like Wayne's idea of catching the various Flxibles that are still out and about.  In the total opposite direction, since the 90 is partially on the chopping block IIRC, I wanted to do a farewell ride to that before it becomes less conducive to fanning but I could always do that on my own.

Sorry guys, no can do for me -- once the winter snows hit (which it's snowing right now) -- I tend to stay up here until spring -- unless I'm heading down to watch the Purple birds open up a can of "whoop ass" on some unsuspecting team -- like what they'll do this coming Sunday night....anyhow, things look better for me in the spring.

The week before Christmas I will only have one day off and that day I might be heading into NYC to try and ride one of the vintage new looks.

The week of Christmas I have one day off and that is................Christmas.

The week after Christmas I might have 2 days off(depends on my assistant's schedule).

We'll see.

Count me in as well. I'm free most of the time so it's no problem for me. My camera will be ready to go.

I'm down...anytime between December 21st and January 10th. I'm actually in the mood for a good DC freestyle. I would REALLY like to avoid Fairfax county.

I don't think we can get everything in by freestyling it.  And, if people want to go to Fairfax, we can build it into an itinerary so we aren't waiting there all day.

So I can take care of the Flxes (except Ds) and the 60-LFWs and anything in VA, but does anyone else have any ideas?

PG THE BUS's Gilligs are stellar, and, if they are still around, I would love to go after Ride-On's Orion Is, 5546, and the Flxes if we are so lucky.

I'd love to join you guys - I haven't seen most of you in a long times, and others I have yet to meet!
My favorite buses:
1989 SEPTA AN440: 19 years in service
1989 NJT Metro Bs: 21 years in service
1990 WMATA 93/9400 Flxes: 20 years in service!
1990-92 Ride-On Orion Is: 17-18 years in service!

Tell me again I have no taste in buses...

I can take care of the DE40LFs, DE40LFRs, D40LFRs etc. Basically, I got the whole PG County covered. Aren't those 60-SFWs?
