Congrats to the Philadelphia Phillies!!  :D That was one of the better World Series I have seen in awhile since it did not involve the Yankees or Red Sox!!

I'm with you in regards to the Red Sox.  Will the Yankees be there again soon?  I'd likely bet the mortgage on it.

It was cool to see the Phillies win, but I was kinda hoping for the Rays since they're so young.  I also think Selig did the right thing in suspending game 5.

Yep give the Rays some props. I knew the Phillies were going to win, but the Rays did a very good job. Congrats to both teams.

I think the Yankees are beginning their self destruct years and it will take some time to get to playoff position again.  Their pitching is aging, their fielders are aging and all the Yankee management likes to do is blame everyone else for their problems.

I'm glad to see the Phillies win.  My wife was very happy to see it since the Rays knocked the Sox out of the playoffs.

I don't know.  I think I'll have to disagree.  This year they managed to finish 89-73 with injuries to several key players throughout the season.  They need to make some moves, but I don't see them being in a rebuilding stage like most teams where it takes years to be a playoff contender again.  I can't stand the Steinbrenners, but I do like that the Yankees bring in so much revenue that can afford to pursue any player.

No doubt they have some issues to address.  If the injured starting pitchers (Wang, Hughes and Kennedy) are healthy and they managed to get Sabathia and/or resign Pettitte or Mussina their pitching will be OK, but not great.  They need help at first and especially in center.

If those younger Steinbrenners are anything like their father, I see some significant moves being made during the offseason and if necessary another before the '09 trade deadline.  The bad part for the Yankees is that Red Sox and Rays will still be stronger teams.

The problem is so many of their players are really up there in baseball years.  I think the experience (or threat of firing squad by the Steinbrenner's) kept them where they were without falling further behind, but nothing would make me happier to see the AL East standings look like this for the next few years:

Tampa Bay
Toronto
Baltimore
Boston
New York
