PHOTOS From Today: Jerusalem Light Rail Testing (plus BONUS BUS PHOTO)

Here are some photos I took today of the ongoing Jerusalem Light Rail testing.  Daytime photos were taken on my way to work, nighttime photos were taken on my way home.  For the past two weeks or so, the trains have been running as 1 car trains, they had been running as 2 car trains which is how they'll operate in revenue service from what I understand.  I'm not sure why there was a change.  I also tried filming a movie of the evening train in motion but it didn't come out well (I have a D90, and frankly, I bought it to do stills, not movies) so you all will have to wait for a better clip that is worthy of posting.















And for the busfans here, here is a photo of a MAN NG313 artic crossing the light rail right of way in the center of town.  Since Sunday, nearly all the buses have been alternating the destination on their headsigns with a message saying "HAVE A NICE TRIP", and this bus in the photo is displaying that special message.  Frankly, while I like when the buses display greetings for the various holidays (i.e. Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Chanukah, Purim, Passover), I find this have a nice trip message to be fairly annoying.  That is because for some reason, when the LEDs flip readings here, they all turn off while the flip occurs.  In most cases, the LEDs showing the route number don't turn off as seen in this photo, but on some buses they do, so at night, you are staring at what amounts to a blank sign half the time.  Quite silly in my opinion.  Anyway, here is the photo:
