According to this the new Southeastern will be called Southwestern Division. It makes sense but I don't know

Well, the garage is technically in SW. I would have liked Blue Plains a little better but I think the treatment plant around there is called Blue Plains.

I'd like to think that the situation of affairs at Northern, Western, and Annex would speed up building of Southwestern especially with the pending closing of Western and the building of new Northern/Walter Reed once WRAMC closes and is redeveloped.

Was the plan for a bus garage at Walter Reed actually finalized?  I was pretty sure it is simply an idea at this point, one of many ways to develop the site once Walter Reed moves to Bethesda.

I can't pull up the PDF at this exact moment from this thread but I don't think the plans for a WMATA depot at the Walter Reed site are final by any means.

Actually if I'm not mistaken back in 2007 I read the Division was planned to have opened in December of 2010 until I found out they haven't even started the groundbreaking until September of 2009. So I too hope its not delayed I can't wait to see what equipment goes there.

Actually if I'm not mistaken back in 2007 I read the Division was planned to have opened in December of 2010 until I found out they haven't even started the groundbreaking until September of 2009. So I too hope its not delayed I can't wait to see what equipment goes there.

Project timelines are always subject to change due to certain circumstances (i.e red tape). SSTC was supposed to on track to open back in Fall 2009 (I still remember the flyers from 07 with the rendering of the new center). I think now it's on track for either Fall 2011 or maybe early 2012.

I last heard Summer of 2012 is the opening for Southwestern Division. I will try and find out for sure.

Yea. From what I've heard SW is supposed to be CNG capable. Also, I've seen some timelines about possible rebuild of Western and Northern (2 years possibly) which puts them in line with when Cinder Bed Road and Southwestern are supposed to go online. Also, with the new Southwestern, they might be able to do some Northern/Annex/Bladensburg routes.

Western Division sits on some pretty valuable land with no real way to expand the size of the facility.  There have been proposals to rebuild the facility and to shut it entirely, though in the case of the latter proposal, the long deadheads that would result have been noted and acknowledged by many.

I guess thats why Walter Reed came in mind for both garages since it's relatively close to most of the termini for both Northern and Western routes.

From what I assumed when SE closed was that the former SE routes now covered by Northern, Annex, and Bburg would eventually be served by the new SE again once it opens. If that's the case, the Northern/Western/Montgomery trade-off routes would go back to normal as well? Like for the 60s, L line, and N line.
