this is something I REALLY wanted to see. I have yet to see a non-New Flyer bus on the 79 (except for the '08 NABI artics)

UPDATE - THIS JUST IN I was going for a little night drive along Hungerford Dr (for some errands) and as I was passing Rockville Station I saw 4040 on the Q6!!! Looks like these buses aren't retiring yet! I thought they would be retired since there were reports of nearly all the 4040s being retired (including 4040 and 4048). Let the resurrection continue!

If that C40LFR demo was mostly white, I think I saw it on the on ramp for the Rosslyn exit on the GW Parkway last Friday morning. My guess is that either ART is going to expand some more or the MWAA is looking at buying something to retire those 90's vintage Van Hools for shuttles at DCA and Dulles.

Neither for the two. MWAA got Eldorado Axesses for Reagan. ART is getting NABIs and DesignLines.

Those Axesseses are a few years old and are still safe. The older grey 30' Van Hool buses still run as backups, at least they were a couple weeks ago when I last had a flight into DCA. I rode one once, they're due to move on.

PLEASE don't tell me the Gilligs are moving back to Silver Spring!

and I checked Nextbus and I see that you're right about 2616-2623 moving back to FMR and 2175-2177 moving to Bladensburg. 2178 seems to still be at Western though, according to the site.
Route Q2. Destination: Silver Spring Station

Three interesting observations as I moved around the area today:
1) Metrobus: #2458 operating U5/U6 service with passengers at Texas Avenue & Ridge Road SE displaying "NOT IN SERVICE" on all three destination signs.  This service seems to attract a large number of buses with malfunctioning destination signs.
2) Greyhound 102DL3 travelling northbound on I395 (SE-SW Freeway) with the destination sign "TIJUANA."  I don't think I would take that trip unarmed!
3) CSX powering the Tropicana Orange Juice train over the Potomac River bridge bound for New Jersey.  Unfortunately most of the white box cars had been sprayed with a lot of graffiti.

1. It might be the common login tied into the Clever Devices that switched it to not in service given if the bus was running late. If it's the end of the assignment, it'll do this (still schedule based and not GPS based for switching the signs).
2. Orale.
3. What time did you see Q740 going across the Pomac? Plus, yea, white spaces seem to attract alot of artwork.

I saw the plain Jane all-white New Flyer C40LFR going exiting the highway near Rosslyn.  Didin't see which way it went as I was driving in the other direction.
