DCT S9Z4Z6

*Q1* & *Q3* (Northern) *RUSH HOUR*
SILVER SPRING & FEDERAL TRIANGLE
                              TO
ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION & NATIONAL BUREAU of STANDARDS

1 trip NORTHBOUND in AM for each route
1 trip SOUTHBOUND in PM for each route

Both buses had staggered departure times from their respective terminals (Silver Spring & Federal Triangle, 13th & Penn) but both buses would meet at what was then the MONTGOMERY VILLAGE Transit Center, and exchange passengers & continue to the destinations. The reverse would happen in the evenings.

*Q2* (Northern) WHEATON PLAZA to MONTGOMERY VILLAGE
5days a week
Viers Mill Rd
E Jefferson St
N Washington St
Hungerford Dr
Manakee Dr
Campus Dr
Manakee Dr
Hungerford Dr
S Frederick Ave
N Frederick Ave
Montgomery Village Ave
Terminal location was at the Montgomery Village Transit Center

NOTE:
When the Q2 bus first started service, it only operated 5 days a week. It wasn't until the Y8 was moved to Georgia Ave, that the Q2 operated 7days a week, and to Silver Spring.

*Q8* (Northern) SILVER SPRING to MONTGOMERY MALL
6days a week
SS Terminal
Georgia Ave
University Blvd
Viers Mill Rd
Randolph Rd
Dewey Rd
Boiling Brook Pkwy
Randolph Rd
Parklawn Dr
Twinbrook Pkwy
Halpine Rd
(loop behind congressional plaza 7/8ths counter-clockwise)
Montrose Rd
Seven Locks Rd
Democracy Blvd
Westlake Dr
Original *Q8* terminal was by Hecht company (1974)

NOTE #1:
On the return trip, the Q8 would loop behind Congressional Plaza 1&1/8ths times, counter-clockwise, before continuing up Halpine Rd, to Silver Spring.

NOTE #2:
Selected Q8/ trips that were signed CONGRESSIONAL PLAZA, would layover at the 1st bus stop on East Jefferson St, after making a right off of Halpine Rd (Shared by route C8). This was so that the Q8 bus, would service the stops for passengers traveling in the direction of SILVER SPRING.

*J2* (Northern) MONTGOMERY MALL to BELTWAY PLAZA
6days a week.
When the J2 was created, it was to run with the J4, to provide 30 minute service between Bethesda & Beltway Plaza.
Westlake Dr
Democracy Blvd
Old Georgetown Rd
Center Dr
N.I.H. Building #10
Center Dr
From downtown Bethesda to Beltway Plaza, the J2 ran the same route as the J4, as I described previously.

*J6* (Northern) SILVER SPRING to FEDERAL TRIANGLE
7days a week
SS Terminal
Wayne Ave
Flower Ave
Carrol Ave
Laurel St
Aspen St
(under the B&O RR bridge)
(Im thinking 5th Street NW)
I don't remember exact routing to Federal Triangle.

NOTE:
On trips operating to TAKOMA, from Aspen St under the B&O railroad bridge, the buses would cross under bridge, Willow St, Eastern Ave to Laurel St (TAKOMA. . . . a stop shared by 50's series (14th Street) buses) . . . .  Or for trips to SILVER SPRING Willow St, Carrol St NW, Carrol Ave & reverse to Silver Spring

Can't go wrong, with a classic ANYTHING!
