August 2009 Observations

Passed by Carmen E Turner this evening and there are about 3 DE37LFAs sitting there along with about 8-10 DE42LFAs sitting there.  At Landover there is one DE42LFA with no wheel covers probably just came in and is awaiting approval, before being moved into Carmen E Turner.  Also in Landover, more Ds awaiting retirement and next to Landover there are the Metro '86-'87 Metro As sitting there.

All of the DE42LFAs I saw that weren't next to the bridge were in the LOCAL scheme, and no more DE62LFAs.

Were you close to get any fleet numbers for the 37s?

Was across the from Carmen E Turner when I spotted them.  One other note all of the ones that I saw there had no wheel covers on them, I guess they were awaiting them to be put on.

Ride On 5314 wrapping up a run on the L8 yesterday at Friendship Heights. Any more '09 hybrids in service yet?

Observations from today (made while biking, so hopefully I remember everything properly):

9409 on the N3, didn't see if it was from Montgomery or Western
9334 on Pennsylvania Avenue, it was going the other way so I couldn't see the route or block number
2823 on a McLean Gardens bound 32 with the sign reading MC LEAN GARDENS, repainted in the Metro Local scheme
4302 on the Psomething with a partial wrap for Allstate IIRC, the wrap only goes as high as the windows on the side.

Not transit related per se, but I saw at least one (could have been the same bus twice) double deck tour bus with right hand drive.  Never saw one around DC before.  It has doors on both sides of the bus however, the left side door is at the front across from the driver's seat, the right side door is in the center of the bus.

oh yeah i saw that bus on the 23A too but I forgot about the seats...does anyone remember where I can find a pic of it?

5727 - 48 then 59...this bus still smokes a lot but it runs nice and fast
5728 - Rockville Station not in service - Wayne has pics of it on the 55
5730 - Rockville Station not in service - i'm guessing it's Gaithersburg because there were already Silver Spring buses on the 49, and...
5731 - 74 to Shady Grove this morning
5732 - 49 at Glenmont and Rockville...looks like this is the cutoff for now

4201 and 4203 are Bladensburg buses...4201 on the D8 with a Boost Mobile wrap and 4203 on the P6 with an Allstate wrap

I actually saw 2515 yesterday at Pentagon, it's not in the rainforest wrap anymore...I don't remember seeing 2509 recently though.

Time of the P6 sighting?  I started the ride at 4:30, so I probably got down to 4th Street where I saw it at about 5:15.
