I know I am not the only one who rides roller coasters on a regular basis so let me hear some roller coaster stories.   I went to Hershey Park yesterday and one ride I didn't ride was the Stormrunner.  Let's just say I rode it 3 times.  Rode Farenheit twice, Great Bear twice and the Wildcat twice.  It seems like Hershey Park is becoming a good park (wish I could say the same Six Flags, Largo), but Kings Dominion is my favorite amusement park.  I want to go to Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and ride the Kingda Ka ride.  This sucker is supposed to roll at 128 mph.  Maybe I shouldn't shave that day and let the ride do it instead ;D  .  But so far, of the four parks I've been to, my top five rides are:

5)Farenheit (Hershey Park)

4)Griffon (Busch Gardens, Williamsburg)

3)Drop Zone (Kings Dominion)

2)Storm Runner (Hershey Park)

1)Volcano (Kings Dominion)

Hmm. It's been about 4 years since I went to Kings Dominion. I'm not a big amusement park fan and the time I went to Kings Dominion, I'd never really been on roller coasters. Had a little fear of them, but since my friends talked me into doing them, I rode almost every one of them. Drop Zone really got to me because of that very high drop.

How did you know there were other amusement park goers on this board?  ;) Even though it has been years since I have been to any of these parks and knowing they change/add things every year to give you a reason to come back, these are my rankings.

In ranking order by park:

1) Kings Dominion is definitely the best!! I have never found myself bored here and if you get lucky like I did one night, I got to ride several roller coasters again and again and again without even getting out of the seat because no one was in line and everytime we pulled in the employees were like "you want to go again?" HELL YEA!!!! Plenty of memories here....

2) Hershey Park is cool but what adds to the whole atmosphere is the smell of chocolate through out the whole town. Plenty of rides and awesome stuff at the store especially for chocolate lovers like me!!

3) Busch Gardens, Williamsburg I thought it was boring after a few hours. I got to ride all there roller coasters in a few hours then there wasn't much else to do.

4) Six Flags, Largo MD, What a sad park. Back when it was "Wild World" it was actually pretty cool. But last time I went there which was when we had the "Ride On" picnic years ago, most rides were shut down and broken. So me and my girlfriend at the time ate some food hungout with the coworkers and left! The only thing that was worthwhile was the waterpark area....

My to do list includes Cedar Point in Ohio and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jersey. Wes you will probably beat me there, so that means give me a report when you get back!

I absolutely love roller coasters.  We used to go to Six Flags Great Adventure every year.  We even used to take NJTransit's express bus there too.  Six Flags in Largo was a huge letdown.  I've also been to Six Flags Over Georgia many years ago.

I also would like to visit Cedar Point.  I enjoyed Kings Dominion too, but it's been about 8 years since I've been there.

I remember it as Adventure World before Six Flags came in. I don't even bother going back to Largo because its just PG.

I remember when Adventure World was Wild World and it was primarily a water park.  At some point in its history animals used to be housed there.

I'm not a huge roller coaster fan although my favorite is the "Rock N' Rollercoaster" at Disney World.  You sit in what is supposed to be a Cadillac limo and it blasts you off really fast and it's all inside.

I remember going to Wild World to ride the Wild One.  It was during the time they had that commercial with Big John Stud.  He sat in the front seat and during the whole ride remained emotionless.  I tried to do that when I went with my cousins and sat in the front seat and tried to immitate his emotionless face.   Er that lasted till the first drop, and no I didn't scream like a little girl, but I didn't yahoo like I go today either.

Chris, let's just say I loaded up somewhat on candy and fudge at Hershey Park/Chocolate World and if I had somemore money, game over, would have had a car filled with chocolate :D.  Going to amusement parks is one of the many reasons why I like summer/spring over winter.

I had no idea.  Does he own all of the Six Flags parks or just Six Flags America?

WMAveteran

Wayne: he owns all of them.  He purchased the entire company and is now turning heaven and earth to keep it solvent.

When you were beginning to get bored with Kings Dominion(like I have), enter the "Intimidator"

www.kingsdominion.com  and then look under "What's New For 2010"

If the drawings are correct then this sucker rises higher than Drop Zone.
