At least on FMR buses.  One talks to the driver about proper driving techniques and the other I recall is about next bus.

"Welcome aboard Metrobus.  Be sure to take your personal items with you when you exit the bus."

Some other divisions, most notably the Bladensburg division, now has the new bus announcements, too.  Some Montgomery buses have them as well.

Hear those all the time on Landover buses.

"Buckle up.  The belt around you might save your life, and the lives of others.  Be safe." as the bus starts

Haven't been able to get clear audio of the NextBus announcement yet, it's so long that I don't remember how it goes.

It comes on like every 20 minutes or so. I don't know which one is more annoying: The Nextbus announcement or MTA's security irritation.

"Please do not weld in rear door area"
I hate that one. It comes up every 1 min i should say.

Tristan

I think you mean "Please do not stand in the rear doorwell" ?  I don't know if welding things on board buses is a frequent enough occurrence to warrant an announcement <g>

The doorwell announcement is only supposed to happen...when someone is in the doorwell, not on a timer.  I've been on buses where someone plants themselves in the doorwell and ignores the announcements, much to the chagrin of the entire coach.

I hate it when a fool is standing there and the announcement keeps on repeating over and over. Especially if the bus is crowded.

The C2 comes to mind when that happens.

Why would you want to weld & drive the bus at the same time?  :D
ACtually, it comes from some tourists, who were standing the the rear doorwell, on a 9000, or 9100 RTS series L-8 going towards Aspen Hill. The bus was rounding Chevy Chase Circle, the 3 tourists were leaning against the doors, the doors popped open. The tourists fell out the bus & were run over.
Can't go wrong, with a classic ANYTHING!

Dang. I haven't heard that announcement in a long time. I listened to one of my recordings and you guys are right.

Yeah 9048 was the RTS where the doors popped open.

We have way too many announcements on our buses in Vegas.  In fact there are two different voices because over time new routes and things had to be added, so it's a patchwork of voices, tones, volumes.  We're having someone re-do all of them so there is one consistent sound.

Sounds just like Ride On. They couldn't keep a certain consistency with their announcements. So far, I think 5 people are announcing them piecewise. Voice 1: Rockville Pike Voice 2: and Voice 3 (really deep booming voice): New Street.

Heard one today that went something like this

"Welcome aboard Metrobus please remember to take al your belongings with you when you exit the bus"

Recently I have heard the "Welcome Aboard Metrobus" announcement more often, and IIRC that announcement used to be played when the bus was not in service and the operator opened the door while the Clever Device was on, but now it seems as regular as the Safety announcement.

What really annoys me the most is the Nextbus announcement, it seems like an infomercial being played on the bus even though it's something that could benefit riders by telling them how to check for the next bus.

but yeah...I have been hearing them in most, if not, all of the DC area buses, I don't really know about Landover, Bburg, or Annex yet...
