Here are some photos, taken June 24, of construction for the light rail line in Jerusalem.  The line's opening was recently delayed (again), so they now say it will open in September 2010 (seems like an optimistic estimate from what I've seen).  As has been discussed here in the past, many people in Jerusalem think that this project has been a big waste of money and time and created a great deal of inconvenience.  Traffic in the city center is a mess since roads are closed, businesses have closed due to lower pedestrian volumes on their streets even though access has been maintained, some people are upset that the line goes into East Jerusalem, others are upset that it runs through the ultra-Orthodox Meah Shearim neighborhood.  However, I'm inclined to believe that once the line is finished, people will come to appreciate it.

Anywhere, here are 4 photos.  As I take more photos over time, I will post them here and on my website.

I wonder if the Palestinians and Arab citizens of Israel will be allowed to ride the light rail when it is finished?

Why wouldn't they?  (OK, anyone in the West Bank would need to cross over into Israel proper and some people might be denied that access, but aside from that...)
