At a recent train show at the Maryland State Fair Grounds in Timonium I purchased the last copy of a wonderful DVD by Raleigh D'Adamo entitled "Washington Streetcar Films" that was published and copyrighted by Transit Gloria Mundi.  Between 1956 and 1961 Mr. D'Adamo filmed (in color) the operations on every single Washington DC trolley line.  The DVD is arranged so you can pick any route and follow the actual PCC along the entire route.  It is an amazing historical record.  I particularly like the Route 82 segment to Branchville over DC Transit's private right of way where it ran parallel to the B&O Camden Line.

Tristan

Holy crap, I'd love to get my hands on a copy of that for the site...did you get their contact info by any chance?  And have you ever gotten to digging up your own treasures?

Perry

I'd love to see that too. If you have any contact info or a way to burn it I'd love to get my hands on it.

Tristan and Perry: I would not want to burn a copy myself because the DVD is highly interactive and I would be afraid to ruin it.  Not only does it show all the trolley routes but it also shows a lot of DC Transit buses in both the silver livery and the two-tone green and the operating SILVER SIGHTSEER.  The buses are mostly White's with some old look GM's and a few fishbowl GM's that were just hitting the streets.  There are Trailways and Greyhound GM buses (type PD's and TDH's). The contact information for Transit Gloria Mundi is www.transitgloriamundi.com and the phone number is 800-428-7003.  The address is 36 East 27th Street, Baltimore MD 21218.

At the train show the owner told me my tape was the last copy.  Tristan: I would be happy to play the DVD for you since you are local and Perry you can see it if you ever return for a visit.

Perry

Thanks for the info.  I'll try to get in contact with them and see what I can dig up.

Perry

Just looking through it, they do sell it online.  It's about $50.  Maybe something I'll try to treat myself with in a few weeks!!  Thanks again for the link.  Since I was born in '71 well after the streetcars, it would be neat to see what DC looked like in a great era for transit.
