WES

I just found out, shocking news.  No matter what you thought of Micheal Jackson in his later years, you have got to admit, he is one of the best entertainers out there.  How many of you don't have Thriller and/or any other Micheal Jackson album.

Yesterday it was Ed McMahon, this morning it was Farrah Fawcett and now Micheal Jackson, WOW.  This has not been a good week.

Not to sound racist at all...

But folks, we have lost the last great black male artist of our time. We've already lost Gerald Levert, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, just to name a few of em'. With Micheal Jackson gone, the great era of "Love Doctor" music (of which many of us in this forum were conceived to) is over. There will never be anyone (including these crummy "pop-tart" artists) that can fill the shoes that the aforementioned artists did.
It is whatever.

And WES add the Metro wreck. Man this week seriously sucked. R.I.P Mike 1958-2009. The world will never be the same again.

Nothing racist there. We knew about the skin condition he had that made him lose the pigment in his skin.

Not just this week, this month. Losing 4 great icons within weeks or days of each other is just very tragic.

This has not been a great time. Like Wes mentioned it has not been a good week. Although i really didnt pay him any mind over different things he still was the best when he was a child. And the Jackson 5 now that was something even this isnt really my choice of music but when im in a good mood i listen to it. R.I.P. Mike and that will be the last of the last of this year.

I found a list of all of the celebrity deaths this year and there have been 125.  We lost a ton of great people this year.

There are a couple on there that I had no idea about and that comes almost more of a shock than the ones that are making big news.

I second what Perry said. Am I the only person who thinks that the overall death rate has jumped through the roof the last 5 or so years? Not just celebrities but overall.

One theory I remember reading is that the sheer number of baby boomers is what is pushing the numbers up. Agree or disagree?

Perry

That would be a reasonable expectation that if you have a higher percentage of a group that is older that you would have a higher death rate.  I wouldn't read anymore into it than it's just nature taking its course.

Most of the celebrities passing this year were up there in age.
