You'd be surprised as to how in tune regular commuters are with their equipment.  People recognize new buses and can distinguish them from older ones.  People also pay attention to the branding, which is why TAs spend the money to use it in the first place.  Of course, it is wasted money if branded buses don't run where they belong, but that is a different matter.

Agreed.  I'm sure at this point on Georgia Ave the regualrs quickly learned that a mostly blue bus is a 79 and not the 70/71.  While I not against branding of buses, I do think it's not a good idea for WMATA.  I think it would work very well in NYC.

They have it in New York to a limited extent.  Certain buses from 126 and MV are equipped with EZPass for service on the M35 and M60, and I think for the most part, the dedicated buses for those routes operate on those routes.  And there is also the SBS in the Bronx, where we don't see reports of SBS buses operating on any other routes, so I think you are right Wayne.

WES, I think the "Knight Rider" program was only given money for 100 buses in the first place.  I don't think the program is a failure, but I question the point behind the program.  A bus is pretty large and noisy to begin with relative to other vehicles.  People who don't pay any attention when crossing the street in the first place aren't any more likely to see a bus with LEDs flashing on the top in my opinion.

I'm guessing these new baby Circulators will be for WMATA's 98? It makes sense since they're small.

And yeah I agree with Landover, those new Circulators are uber sexy.

That Circulator bus...is it a regular diesel or a hybrid?  i'm just wondering because of the little "hat" that's in front of it.
My favorite buses:
1989 SEPTA AN440: 19 years in service
1989 NJT Metro Bs: 21 years in service
1990 WMATA 93/9400 Flxes: 20 years in service!
1990-92 Ride-On Orion Is: 17-18 years in service!

Tell me again I have no taste in buses...

I don't know if it's diesel or hybrid but I'm sure it's diesel.

Nice photos. Excellent as always. I really like the N4 shot. First time I've seen a Montgomery bus on this line.
