The following is a sound clip from 8974, a 20 year old Flxible Metro still in active service for MTA:

Wow, with all of these new buses coming in and the fact that all Flxibles don't see the light of day outside of rush hour, I'm surprised this bus is still running!

I'm guessing B-more has a lot of peak hour only services?
My favorite buses:
1989 SEPTA AN440: 19 years in service
1989 NJT Metro Bs: 21 years in service
1990 WMATA 93/9400 Flxes: 20 years in service!
1990-92 Ride-On Orion Is: 17-18 years in service!

Tell me again I have no taste in buses...

MTA hasn't bought a bus in nearly 3 years (6000 series Hybrids) so the flxibles has to keep holding on. By the way, the 8900s are the 3rd series to have buses last two decades (8500s & 8700s)

And the 7000s, I think. The longest running old Flx I remember was 8371 which I last saw running in 2001.

That recording sounds very delicious. I'm suprised that they (Metros) still exist in Baltimore, especially the B-series. Apparently, that bus has a lot of life left in it.
It is whatever.

Are they rare to see in Baltimore because everytime i go there they are all over the place.

It's only like 15-20 in service (8900 & 9000s) total

Yes...you must be going there in the height of rush hour.  Outside of rush hours, all the Flxibles seem to disappear.  That's what I learned when I went there last time, during a weekday as well as the weekend.
