Regardless of whether people want bus service or not, it would be silly for WMATA to continue providing it.  Wait and see what happens, but plan on getting your last 5A ride ever in between now and when the Silver Line is completed, because I highly doubt the 5A will be around after that.

WMATA will likely truncate if not totally eliminate Dulles bus service. The L route example Oren mentioned have been rerouted and truncate sense the 1970s. Most of the L routes use to terminate at 13th and Pennsylvania including the L7 and L8. The WMATA 40 routes use to terminate at various points east of Capitol Hill.

WMATA has rerouted, truncate and or eliminate dozens of routes over the years as metrorail progressed to completion.

Fairfax Connector may end up doing what Ride-On did in Montgomery County to complement and or feed the station along the Silver line.
