This topic was split as we continue to talk about general NFL action.

Landoverdivision - I know it's a bad day since the Titans are no longer undefeated at the hands of the Jets.  I was saying to my wife before the game that IMO, undefeated status in football is overrated seeing as it all goes out the window once the playoffs start.  Good example: Last years' Patriots who won every game except the most important one.  I was unhappy went the Giants lost to the Browns a few weeks ago, but my thinking is... It allows a team to focus on winning and not trying to go undefeated.

Saw some of the Dolphins-Patroits game which was pretty wild before the Pats managed to runaway with the game.

Eagles-Ravens - I don't know what's going on with the Eagles.  They have so much potential, but they can't seem to get it done.

Go Ravens!! There defense was on point today!! Eagles got some issues to work out though. I mean sidelining Mcnabb in the first half when Kolb was just coming across the same problems in the second half. Good move.....

Redskins game was actually good today. They played real well and to see Zorn beat out his old team was even better.

Giants are going strong, watched the end of that game also. Sorry Wayne but I wanted the Giants to lose (Dallas too but that didn't happen), but we'll see you guys next week here in DC.

Titans finally lost and Favre is a monster!!

Chris,

No problem, because I certainly root against the Redskins (Cowboys too).  The one thing I think all New York sports fans are used to is that nearly everyone else hates our teams.

I have to say that I was impressed with the Ravens today.  Their D hasn't been consistent this season, but today they looked quite the force.  Then, the Eagles just looked bad.  I like McNabb, but I think he's on his way out of Philly.  I'm hopeful that someone he'll do well elsewhere.

The Redskins game was good, but I'm thinking they have some issues to adress too.  It was anybody's game to win well into the fourth quarter and Seattle is a much weeker team.  I'm looking forward to the Giants-Redskins next week, especially if we have our big guns back.

Agreed - Favre is having a great time.  It's even better for him because back in the preseason the Jets were widely thought to not have much success this season.

That's the problem with the Redskins, they don't have the "killer" instinct that a team that has as much talent as they do seem to have.

Really they should have creamed the Rams, the Seabags, the Browns and YES, the Cowgirls the second time.  They just do enough to keep their opponents in the game.  They did that and lost to the Rams on a last second field goal and the Cowbums on a late fourth quarter touchdown.

The Titans looked for a couple of games that they might lose but they managed to win those games late.

Now the superbowl matchups could be interesting especially if a few things happen.  Think about these possibilities:

Titans vs Giants -Would have been the most likely but with the Jets whooping their butts, the next possibility would be.........

Jets vs the Giants-  Would this even be called a subway superbowl since both play in NJ?

Ravens vs the Skins-This is probably the one mostly everyone on this board and on the Btco.net board would like to see.................eh very unlikely but who knows it could happen.

Ravens vs Giants- A rematch of the 2000 superbowl that  Baltimore put a whoopin on the Giants...and oddly enough wasn't Kerry Collins the G-men's quarterback back then?

Steelers vs Giants- An interesting superbowl and a rematch of the earlier season game that the G-men pulled out at the last second.  If this was the case and the Steelers won they would be the first team to win 6 superbowls.

And the most unlikely superbowl, this season.........or maybe any season within the next 10 years........

The Lions vs the Raiders.......the sad thing about this superbowl would be if an elementary girls football team would come in and beat both of these teams.  With this said will the Lions go 0-16.  PLAYOFFS!!!, PLAYOFFS!!!!, You kidding me PLAYOFFS, We are trying to win a game.

Except me, the New Yorker.

This week for me was great.  Then it was also lots of fun as I've never seen so many wild high scoring games.  I was hoping the Packers would've done more against the Saints tonight.

Undefeated record really doesn't matter though. Besides, it's all about seeing who could make it all the way am I right?

That has been my feeling.  IMO, the goal is to win the big one.  If you happen to go undefeated along the way, then it's a nice extra set of bragging rights.

Perry

The Patriots are a good example of that.  They steamrolled a lot of teams last year and even held on for those tough ones.  I still think the Eagles should have been able to do a better job of beating them, but then they get to the Super Bowl and met their match.  One of the few times I'll ever root for the Giants. LOL  At that point it's like that t-shirt I only like two teams, " The X and whoever beats the Patriots." :-)

WayneNYC

LOL - Yeah took so much heat from the Pats fans on campus (which were mostly students from New England).  I still say that as dominant as the Pats were last year, they could've easily have been 13-3.  It was the Eagles game, but also the Ravens and Giants also nearly beat them.  It was extra sweet for the Giants because they played the Patroits in the last game and lost on a so-so call.

Perry

I agree with 13-3 but they got the easy breaks.  It almost isn't worth fighting for undefeated because the season is just so long that by the time you get to the Super Bowl, it's anyone's game.  Maybe they should go back to having only one week between the last game and the Super Bowl rather than two?

I've always felt that way. Being undefeated during the regular season means nothing.

It's a thought.  I like the current format, probably because you get to see more games.  Last season it was clear that the Patriots had decided to chase the undefeated season/playoffs.  Near the end when they had locked up the division with the first round bye, they were still using their starters a lot.  I think they should've started using those guys sparingly just enough to keep them sharp and go into the playoffs somewhat rested.

Raiders getting their heads handed to them by the Chargers.  Too bad I can't see it as we don't have the NFL channel

Wayne, come on over to my place we have it here.  I'm sure Nicole won't mind if you're gone for a couple of days. LOL
