According to the November edition of THE BUSINESS MONTHLY, CTC eliminated its Laurel Loop service on October 20, 2008 that forced "about 70 riders . . . to arrange alternate forms of transportation on short notice."  "According to CTC Chief Operating Officer Ray Ambrose, rising fuel and opearting costs, coupled with chronic funding deficits, left the transportation provider with no choice but to make the service cut last month."  "The Laurel Loop route ran every 90 minutes from 7am - 9pm on weekdays and all day on Sunday, travelling from Laurel Mall to Whisky Bottom Road with service to North Laurel, the Laurel Historic District, South Laurel and Maryland City."  The revenue on the route only recouped 7% of its $100,000 annual operating cost.
