We can assume that both Bladensburg and Royal street are going to be some of the last depots to get new buses from this order. But who is going to need them first? Anyone know the current status of Annex, Montgomery and Western depots? Do they have 1997 Orion Vs up for replacement?

WES

Sheppard Parkway will be getting all 105 buses of this order.  Royal is not able to handle low floor buses and is supposed to be closed within a few months.

Really, they are getting all 105 of the first buses? I guess they'll send some DE42LFAs they have elsewhere like West Ox and Northern. I don't see Royal closing before the end of the year though. I mean, how far along is Cinder bed depot?

Also, any clue as to where the Orion Vs will be going after Royal closes?

It will be just like when SE closed in 2007-2008. While Royal closes, Cinder Bed is still under construction and their 2100s will move around the region, along with many other buses during the Fall changes.

Is there an official date as to when Royal will close? Where will those 2100s go? Will some go to FMR, West Ox, Sheppard's Parkway, like that?

I mean, if some 2100s go to FMR, they'll probably send more 2500s to Bladensburg and in exchange, some 7000s may get the boot elsewhere. This, on top of the 8000s arriving is going to be chaotic because they will probably shift some 6300s and 6500s around. I think it's best they delay the closing until Cinder Bed is done next year. Maybe they'll send some 2100s to storage until than, but I hope this does not effect service.

You're making this more complicated. They'll split the 2100s around the region and give some of FMR downtown routes to Bladensburg to reduce deadhead. West Ox would some FMR routes on weekdays

But with one depot down, they'll be a surplus of buses.

It's not the first time. When southeastern closed they had 105 buses and was using the u-haul lot for overhaul storage because they were beyond max capacity. Last time I checked, Royal had less than 105.

At this time, Royal has about 83 buses.

Thats my point. They have fewer buses than Southeastern and the rest of the 4200-4400s will be retired.

Montgomery has been using the 4400s for Driver Training

rideonrulez

10 4400's are used for training. 58 of the 4200's are still in revenue service.
