November 2013 Observations

Surprised that no one remembered this, but the site was down for quite a well recently. Anyway, I'm starting of the month confirming that 2013 Gillig Advantages numbers #280 and #288 are both now in service. Saw both of them today and rode #288 on the Fuller heights line.

I forgot to mention I saw WMATA Orion VII NG #3084 on Monday (11/11/13) in Bethesda going Southbound on MD355.

PRTC Omnilink's #281 and #284 are now both in service. Saw them both today at the Transit Center.

And so is Omnilink #278. Saw it about 20 minutes ago in the TC bound Fuller heights line.

University of Maryland Gillig Advantage #3916 operating Route 124 service (UM College Park to Universities at Shady Grove) observed at Sam Eig Highway and Fields Road in Gaithersburg on 11/22/2013 at about 3:30pm.  This is an interesting service to observe because sometimes UM Setra coaches are assigned displaying paper destination signs in the front window.

So...., the 7F has been rerouted in Alexandria? instead of making a right on Columbia pike, it makes a left now, following the 7B bus route.

Also, Omnilink had recently retired several 2005 Gillig Advantages at the depot. Several was almost completely white with a green stripe. Numbers were also removed.

Drove by the old Ride On Gaithersburg division this morning. After all the Gburg buses moved down the street, the old Gburg lot is now infested with the 2007 Champion cutaways, still intact with their numbers and everything.
Despite being pulled off the streets last year, it now seems they might be given another chance. I wonder if that's true and how long that will take...

Okay, this was weird, but I caught an Omniride 40 foot bus on an Omni Link route. Short on buses are we?

WMATA DE40LFR #6046 at Western Division today doing Driver Training along with a DE40LF 60XX.

I saw a 2006 New Flyer D40LFR doing training at Potomac yards near FMR back in 2009 along with a 1993 Flexible Metro D. I also saw a Fairfax Connector 1998 Orion V along with a WMATA 1997 Orion V training in Prince William county back in summer 2010. I also saw a WMATA 2007 Orion VII CNG in Prince William county around Woodbridge training a few years ago, so I guess this is nothing new.

Interesting observation. Spotted a Ride-On Gillig Advantage 40 foot diesel at the Cummins garage in Manassas.

There is also now a 2001 CUE bus Gillig Phantom there as well.
