Does anyone remember where they were based from?

Quite a few were based at the Montgomery County depot at White Flint.

As I recall they were assigned to all of the division that existed at the time WMATA had them. Road aboard them on routes dispatched out of Bladensburg, Western and Northern, saw them parked at Royal Street and Four Mile Run, saw them on the street and roads in all jurisdictions of the WMATA compact.

Okay because I saw a couple of photos of some GMC RTS's @ Pentagon circa 2001 and was curious.

Initially they were everywhere but, as I recall, they became quite expensive to maintain and toward the end of their service lives they were almost all assigned to the White Flint depot because it was the newest and most able to handle their maintenance needs at the time.

At the end, I recall them being split with Montgomery and Four Mile Run.  I know Montgomery had lots of them in '97, but I think the '00 Orion Vs allowed them to be retired.

So some were out of Four Mile Run, cool.

WES

At one time Montgomery had all of them but when the rear door fiasco happened, they were all parked at Landover.  9112 was turned into a surburban and when they had those rear door fixed they were split between Royal, FMR and Montgomery. For a brief time 9038 was running from Landover, then it went to Royal.  I think it was 9001-39 Royal, 9040-79 FMR and the rest Montgomery before they were retired.

For as long as I can remember, from the time my family moved out to Chevy Chase until the RTSs were retired, it was rare to see anything but RTSs on the T2.  They also had a significant presence on the L7 and L8.

Really? Not even a Flexible Metro B or an Orion V? lol

I said very rare, to the point it would probably be considered observation worthy for this message board.  I'd say until the past few years, the T2 ran Montgomery's oldest equipment almost exclusively and rarely saw the new stuff.
