I remeber when the last A12 on Friday nights left Addison Road Station at 3:46am, and arrived at Capital Plaza at 4:21am. I know this ended about 2 or 3 years ago, but I just wanted to bring it up.

Lots of routes did that after Metrorail extended their times, but then due to low ridership a lot of them went the way of the do-do bird.

Bad move on WMATA's part. They should have started 24-hour bus operations on key routes back before the economy crumbled and transit got cut.

The ridership wasn't there, what were they supposed to do?  Run empty buses for the fun of it?

The A12? Might have been the right move.

Now, having 24-hour service on key routes would have been a good idea. Put some buses running even every 40 minutes on the routes with heavy ridership and it would be a big plus. Of course, nobody wants to properly fund WMATA... :(

They tried running the service.  No one was riding.  They discontinued it.  What should they have done when money became tight?  Cut rush hour service to keep the trips at 3 AM no one was riding?
