and this is the closest I can get to a rehab number for 2086 (ALMOST able to see the number)

well this really sucks...those are the only 2 left of the 2000 series Orions

I may have some leading for those missing #1000's you mentioned: I was browsing the MonumentalCity forums the other day, and in some of the 2006 observation threads, someone noted that they saw a fair few Orion IIs being rehabbed. Unfortunately, since those buses will never come back, we'll never know which ones belong to what.

hmm...I was thinking the same thing, though I don't know why they would rehab those "things" and dispose of them shortly after, at least it wasn't all of them.

Yes, WMATA's Orion IIs did get rehabbed, but I don't know all of them were done.   I never paid too much attention to them.

Whose decision was it to retire the Orion II's? I know the odd DDoT ownership situation led to them pretty much lying fallow for two years at their expense because they refused sales to someone else who could have used them,

2508, 2540, 2567, 2601, 2619, 2632, 2633, 2634, 2645, 2664, 2681, 2683, 2702, 2703, 2708, 2710, 2713, 2726, 3015, 3029, 5306, and 5320 (NextBus shows that it's at Bladensburg, and it's been out of service for roughly a year, so chances are good that it's rehabbed).
