Animated Bus Destination signs

I've made a couple of animated bus destination signs for some of the bus routes in the DC Area. I plan making all of them eventually. I can also make fantasy signs, signs YOU would like to see personally, or mixed signs like, "B2 Southern Avenue Station". If you want one, just post here. I really like making these. It's fun.

They are. Technically, the limited stop PR has MetroExtra hence why on the express 6400s it'll come up when it's keyed in. Someone must have just copied and pasted without taking the MetroExtra part out.

But yeah that's cool that you make them. I would like to see a Q2 sign (and maybe the other Qs) since that's my home route.

I use an image editing program called GIMP.

I made a grid of black dots (based on the dimensions of the Luminator bus destination signs), on a dark gray background. I used a font guide for the fonts that found on the NYC Transit forum. Then I fill the black dots with amber, or any other color, with the destination sign I want.  When making continuous loop signs, the layers in the program give me the ability to switch between destinations. Like, the first layer would be "C2 WHEATON", then the second layer would be "C2 STATION". After that's done, I save it as a gif animation, and it comes out as C2 WHEATION STATION in a continuous loop.

I'll have all the requested ones done in no time.

Oh nice! They look very legit for being something that is made from scratch. I use Luminator IPS (the programming software for Luminator signs) in the office and I can tell you that it is a pain in the ASS to get anything done on that.

Orion Flyer: the J9 sign flashes twice as I recall: the first flash is LAKEFOREST and the second flash is I270 EXPRESS.  It's similar to the two flashes on the B30 sign you made where the first flash displays the airport name and the second flash displays EXPRESS.  Thanks very much.

Very nice!  What program did you use?  I could use something like this to make graphics of Luminator signs for my bus models as that font is not on any computer I use.  I use Fixedsys, which gets the job done, but for 100% Luminator font, I have to cut and paste individual signs and shrink them down to scale, which is a real time-consuming PITA.  Any help you can offer is welcome.

I used a image editing program called GIMP. I can make whatever sign you want, and send them to you. Then you can scale them and do what you do to put them on your bus model. I bet they'll look pretty cool on them.

Today I saw a 25A bus with a two flip sign: 25A N V C C- // 25A   ALEXANDRIA

Usually it's a two line, small font 25A with NVCC on the top line (7 point) and Alexandria on the bottom line (7 point).

I always thought the 25B was the only two sign message toward Van Dorn St Station.

Do you have the programming from the old 12 and 20 routes?  12A, 12C, 12L, 20F, etc...

Oh yeah, speaking of the old routes, how bout the 14 line and the N7? that would be cool. N7 going both to Fed. Triangle and Montgomery Mall, and 14 line wherever the destinations were.

Also, a 32 to McLean Gardens would be cool too (and the regular destinations too if you want)
