Howie's Truck Gets a pair of Hybrids!

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman will help unveil the county's first hybrid bus 11 a.m. Monday in front of the George Howard Building, 3430 Courthouse Drive, Ellicott City.

The bus will create less pollution and includes an attached bike rack for cyclists and a low floor to allow better access for people who are elderly and disabled, county officials said.

The initiative will highlight Ulman's heavy focus this term on protecting the environment and improving transportation.  Howard county leads the state in the number of hybrid vehicles being used for official business, cutting annual fuel costs by thousands of dollars.

After googling a few things, I finally found out the make/model - not too suprisingly its's Gillig Advantage Hybrid.  Also, there are 2 of them.  Not sure the length.

At least it's a step up for Howie's Truck, an actual bus.

A Gillig is always a step up from a truck bus.  I guess truck buses don't have a hybrid version.....oh darn.

First it was FART, then DUH BUS and now Howie's Truck Service, who next Corrided Toe and Loudmouth Transit(wait they did have a couple of Flxes, which BTW what happened with those things.)

I forgot to post this. A few weeks ago I saw #9521 which is a 35ft Gillig Advantage Hybrid in that Green scheme. I'll have to run up and get a pic of one someday....
