American Ikaruses with the SINGLE front stripe?

I remember being surprised when I saw this variation of the scheme on the 436s.  However, I'm not sure how many were painted like this?  Do you guys have any ideas?

5212 was the only one of WMATA's American Ikaurus 436 to get this treatment.  The red stripes were a bit thicker and "metrobus" lettering is larger.  I believe 5212 was the first 436 to be repainted into that (WMATA's 3rd) color scheme.  At least it's the first one I saw.  In those days the bus was at Northern and all of the others were repainted with the thin red stripes.  Here's a couple of pics.

'Twas either a fluke, a draft, or a shortage of red stripes...or was it an excess of Red Stripe? :-D

Oh wow, thanks for the information Wayne.  It sure looks different with that misinterpretation of the scheme.   Is 5212 still running?

Ah, I saw it in that "Observation Picture" thread which brought it to mind.  Is CET simply a storage/heavy duty maintenance center?
