Bravo, WMAVeteran, Bravo!! I'm surprised that WMATA didn't keep some sort of service after the takeover, even if it was only something peak hours only to connect Upper Marlboro to Metro.

I would endorse your idea to run the 81/83 into the Ikea and the 17 to be a College Park-Cherry Hill connection, only problem is that who would provide service on weekends for the RVers and the (few) non-UM residents at Seven Springs or for people who want to get to College Park Marketplace?  How close does the R2 come to Cherry Hill and would a diversion there work or would it just add more time to an already long-ish trip between Fort Totten/PG Plaza and MoCo Calverton?

Shame that in this day & age, Duh Bus doesnt operate 7 days a week.

I think a 2 mile diversion from current R2 route is not feasable, nor is a different diversion along the 80 series. WMATA tried with a rush hour C7-9 along cherry hill rd, to Greenbelt w/o success, so I'm sure base/weekend service would also not be successful.
Can't go wrong, with a classic ANYTHING!

From the analysis of the C7/C9 service when it was up for its eventual discontinuation, the lack of anything along the route (minus Verizon Chesapeake, Orchard Center, Archives II, and Cherry Hill) was part of the reason for its demise and all 4 of those generators have other/more frequent service going there. Wasn't it one of Metro's least ridden routes when all was said and done?

On the Orchard Center tangent, is it me or was that put in a very bad location geographically? Outside of Kohl's and maybe Friendly's and Superfresh, there isn't much there that can be found in places that are a bit less out of the way.
