After looking at the 511 service in the bay area and how the region's traffic and transit systems were linked together in one service, I was thinking that the Balt/Wash area would probably benefit from the same thing. The Metro trip planner is good for linking the major TAs in the area with schedule and travel information. Virginia already has a 511 service, but I think the whole region could benefit since we are all interconnected.

We have a fully integrated fare system (once you people get your side up), so why not fully integrated transit information?

You gotta remember. Us people was supposed to be online years ago (and still ain't fully up). God knows when the Transit Pass will even debut for testing. We do need integrated transit information since we are striving for regional connectivity. MTA got on the Google Transit bandwagon with the Trapeze trip planner on the way (hopefully). Let's be the bay area of the east.

Actually, once WMATA gets on Google (as they plan to do), the region supposedly will have a fully dynamic trip planning tool that includes WMATA, MTA, Ride On, Dash, Corridor Transit, and FFC, and probably a few others.

I know that, but I'm talking about having a central service for the regions transit and travel information such as 511.org in the SF Bay Area. Google Transit can only go so far. I looked into the travel planner that 511 has and it's really nice (albeit some flaws). It's the same people who does the Transport for London's Journey Planner. I'd still like to fully customize a trip plan to include some points of interest, pit stops, etc.

It would probably be one of those "if you build it, they will come" type things because I can't say the demand is there...

Look at the Metro's trip planner. I'm pretty sure alot of people use it. I'm sure if a site was to be built, it'd be used. You can combine CommuterPage, CHART, VDOT, and the other TA info right into one site.
