Folks, the GRTC Transit System (Richmond, VA) has recently completed the Comprehensive Operational Analysis. You can read every last nitpickey bit of it here:

This study has led to the first of public meetings in which a few select routes (deemed as underperforming) will be commented on and possibly slated for the chopping block. And no worries folks, Route 96 (Richmond-Fredricksburg Express, which connects with select VRE trains) isn't slated for the chopping blocks. The list of routes in question can be read here:

Feel free to ask more questions....
It is whatever.

It's amazing that contemporary public transit is always trying to catch up with the past!  The Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac RR (RF&P) built and owned the track between Washington DC and Richmond (including Potomac Yards) which is why CSX purchased it.  The RF&P actually operated regular passenger service between Washington and Richmond 7 days a week and its diesels were on the headend of all the long distance Florida trains at least between Washington and Richmond because they had cab signals.  Now it's sad that apart from a few AMTRAK trains a passenger has to take VRE to Fredericksburg and then board a bus to get to Richmond!
