Well there is an actual transit plan for when the ICC is finished in 2010/2011. For those who don't know what the ICC is, it is the Inter County Connector that will connect I-95 in PG County to I-370 in Montgomery County and cost $2.4 BILLION dollars to build. This transit plan consist of several routes, some good ideas some bad. But again this is only proposed so don't get all excited.

Route 1: Gaithersburg-Fort Meade (for BRAC)
Route 2: Gaithersburg-College Park. This will probably serve the FDA campus in White Oak
Route 3: Columbia to Bethesda. This route will include stops at all Park & Rides on the 29 corrdor. It will also serve Rockville on the way to Bethesda
Route 4: Shady Grove Station- BWI Airport/Arundel Mills

There are going to be some transit centers/transfer points built along the way so you can connect to local bus routes such as the Y bus on Georgia Ave etc...etc. There is more routes proposed that will eventually be added in 2020.

Opinions anybody?

Route 1: I don't see the feasibility of this route. As for BRAC, more focus on the MARC Penn Line especially with APG and Ft. Meade.

Route 2: I don't really see anything good about this routing. As for FDA, they have shuttles going from the White Oak campus to College Park Metro Station. Maybe something along the lines of service along the current C8 route.

Route 3: Rockville to Bethesda from Columbia? I can't pinpoint the routing for this. I do want to see something along the lines of BRT service along the 29 corridor maybe with some service westward to Bethesda, but as for Rockville. Too far northwest

Route 4: No way in the world. This would be the most expensive option to consider seeing as the two places are about 40 plus apart and the only routing I see is north county going along the lines of the ICC and maybe splitting off past Laurel. The only route close enough is the Z29 from Burtonsville eastward. Besides, a Green Line extension past Greenbelt toward the Airport seems to be a better, yet still expensive, plan. It's about time Laurel gets included with the rest of the county. If there is any kind of development in the northern sections of Moco that warrants a line like this, then I'd probably like this alignment.

My two cents

ICC Corridor BRT--Shady Grove to South Laurel
Having express bus service along the ICC connecting Norbeck, Burtonsville, and South Laurel Park and Ride Lots. Connections would be availible to the Red Line, Y, and Z lines. Other connections (future ones): Georgia Avenue BRT, 29 Corridor BRT, and Route 1 BRT routes. My ideal operation would be having double deckers running (:)) or having mostly tics similar to the Orange Line in LA.

My plan still is as it has always been, scrub the ICC plans and put the money into transit! ;D

Sadly, not seeing the ICC constructed is about as likely my being able to catch a bus on Little Falls Parkway tomorrow.

Too late for that, I'm afraid.

It's only too late when cars are on the road :-)

So are you proposing a 6 lane BRT line?
