PHOTOS: Desert Chariots

Last week, I was on vacation, during which time I biked 343 miles on my bike (as part of a group of about 80 riders) from Jerusalem to Eilat.  I saw far more buses than I got photographs along the way since changing gears, braking, and photographing with only two hands at the same time is a bit of a challenge. 

This first photo was taken while riding with my point and shoot (I kept it in one of my jersey pockets for moments like this) while approaching the top of Har Ayit, between Neot Smadar and Ketura in the southern Negev, about 40 minutes/50 miles north of Eilat by car:



The second was my ride back to Jerusalem (it took 5 days plus a rest day to get to Eilat by bike and less than 5 hours to get back).  This was taken with my DSLR at the rest stop on Route 90 at Hatzeva that buses on the routes to and from Eilat are scheduled to make.  Unfortunately, our driver decided for some reason to park the bus behind the gas station instead of the parking lot and in a bit of a shadow, and no other buses were there while we were so photo opportunities weren't as good as I envisioned they would be.
