It seems another corridor is under study for improvements after the 30s changes. The most possible changes I see for the busy S line is possibly the introduction of a limited stop line (or two) along the corridor complementing the S2 and S4. As many times as I have ridden the S line, it has become really busy, mostly on the southern end around the Mount Pleasant area, and is stop and go at times. I've seen tics operating into the wee hours of the morning and I'm sure they get packed sometimes. Anyone else have any clues to what might improve on the S line?

The S line does need some help as it is an extremely busy route. Though the peak load is between Mount Pleasant and K Street, it can use a limited stop all the way to Silver Spring like the 79 is on Georgia Ave. Maybe call it the S9?

I was thinking the same thing for an S9 route but as far as north of Mount Pleasant, I have no idea which stops are candidates for limited stops. I could compile a list of stops I feel should be along the S9 route. As for Alaska Avenue, I think the S2 would be enough and wouldn't warrant a limited stop route. Mainly the 16th Street corridor itself. I can't imagine how crowded the line is during rush hour. I've taken it during late night and it looks like rush hour on that line.

Does ANYONE EVER use the Alaska Avenue segment?

Last time I rode the S2, there were several boardings going into town on Alaska Ave. But as 79MetroExtraMD stated, the S2 has that covered. Remember there was a S3 & S5 limited stop years ago that WMATA got rid of. It only ran PM rush though.

It seems kind of ironic how the services WMATA axed years ago are back on the table for being implemented yet again. I guess with the increase in ridership as well as congestion from current services, some old routes might have to come back again. Also, any word on when the 60BRTs might come in. I've asked around with operators at Bladensburg and they didn't see anything.

I think one thing the city could do on 16th Street is to eliminate parking all day until at least 8 PM.  Lower 16th is not too bad, but the portion north of Arkansas needs help since there's just two lanes in each direction.  I think this along with some sort of limited-stop service would be great for the S line passengers.
