DC government considers withholding its share of next year's funding if late night service might be cut...

Tritransit Area

Wow that reminds me of what's going on in Allegheny County, PA.  With the PAT cuts they want to cut funding to PAT as well.

Hmm, DC could always pay a "fee" for the cost of trains into the late night hours in addition to the regular service hours.  Of course, they will balk at that, so basically WMATA has to call them on their bluff and start planning for a budget with $100 million less in it, making the cuts primarily affect DC residents and workers.

Of course, that means the system will only be a skeleton of what it is now and what it should be, but if DC wants to play those games, then Game On!  It's ridiculous that they would pull this stunt...they should understand how important it is to balance this budget...

Or...a less dramatic option is to make the appropriate cuts to provide adequate funding for overnight trains.  Suck in those bellies because the trains are about to get a lot tighter if that is the case, and the highways will be even worse...
My favorite buses:
1989 SEPTA AN440: 19 years in service
1989 NJT Metro Bs: 21 years in service
1990 WMATA 93/9400 Flxes: 20 years in service!
1990-92 Ride-On Orion Is: 17-18 years in service!

Tell me again I have no taste in buses...
