I use the term lightly since it was a cutaway involved, not a real bus.  Story, photos, and a video can be found at http://wtop.com/?nid=25&sid=2216764.  The fire took place this morning in front of the White Flint Metro, no injuries fortunately.

Those low floor cutaways have been a problem from the git go. I'm in favor of losing more of those and keeping the Gillig Phantoms longer. Thanks for the post.

Why is that when I see this the Ohio Player's "Fire" is in my mind :P

Oren I agree with you, that isn't a real bus, it's a luxury school bus.  Just because it has a destination sign and a fare box doesn't make it a bus.

Fiiiiiire dun-dun-dun.

Oren, the stories date line is 07:48 12 30 2010. The fire happened Monday morning 12 27 2010. The story is more about ice left behind from fighting the fire then the destruction of the bus.

WTOP presented the story as if it had happened that morning on the air.

Somewhere along the line an editor left out facts or added facts. My guess is WTOP didn't put together the story until the picture and video came into their possession. Anyway you slice it RideOn is out one cutaway.

LOL....love the Ohio Players reference.  And I'm glad to see another cutaway go down in flames- with no one hurt.
Once all the goats are rounded up, the German tourists are extradited, and the syrup trucks are returned, you'll have to admit that you never saw that one coming.

Gosh, I never even got to ride one of them yet!

What were the problems that these buses were having that sidelined them for such a long time?
My favorite buses:
1989 SEPTA AN440: 19 years in service
1989 NJT Metro Bs: 21 years in service
1990 WMATA 93/9400 Flxes: 20 years in service!
1990-92 Ride-On Orion Is: 17-18 years in service!

Tell me again I have no taste in buses...

You.....call them buses?  For shame!  :o

never really been a fan of the '07 cutaways...
I wonder which one that was, it looks like a 5200 but can't say for sure. i wonder if they're gonna pull a WMATA and pull them off the streets (again) for inspection like WMATA's Orion VIs whenever they caught fire.
