Private Sector Steps In...

Many of you are aware that the C-Tran system in Clayton county, GA shut down its service to/from ATL a few months ago due to budget issues. A regular poster over at btco.net came across a TV story that a private party there has started a replacement operation called "Quick Transit" that began this month. Here is the story that Vern at btco.net found:

Looks like they're using a mix of Gillig Phantoms and cutaways. Wish them luck!

A Columbus, Georgia TV station and the newspaper in Rome, Georgia report that Quick Transit acquired 5 buses and 6 "vans" for the service and was granted an emergency operating permit. The service will be evaluated after it has been running for some time to determine if a permanent certificate is warranted. Operating staff consists of 20 drivers and 1 mechanic.
