PHOTOS: NYC Subway Service Changes

Conveniently, I was able to be in New York this weekend because of a family event, but was able to get some rides in on the lines that have since been discontinued and new trackage.  I'll divide things up to make things a bit easier to navigate.  First round of photos, highlights from the second to last PM rush hour for Bay Parkway M service:

Spent some time on Friday afternoon getting last shots of the W and V trains.  I started on the W:



















I then walked over to 23-Ely to pay my last respects to the V:

Nice pics.  The W was such a short lived line!  I think I only saw its trains once or twice.

It will be interesting to see the Q at Queens Plaza, though!

The Q will stop at Queensboro Plaza, not Queens Plaza.  The only time the Q ever saw Queens Plaza was after the 9/11 attacks when it filled in for the R train on Queens Boulevard (the J filled in on the 4th Avenue local).

It took me a few days, but here are my photos of M train service via the Chrystie Street connector and 6th Avenue:

From there, I was off to railfan a bit more (primarily to say farewell to the R44s, which will be retired before I am next in New York).  Here are some photos from the rest of the day:













Towards the end of the trip, I went for another ride through Chrystie Street.  Does anyone else find these signs to be amusing?

Cool shots Oren.  I haven't ridden through the Chrystie Street connection since the an emergency GO on the MannyB around 1989ish forced it closure for the weekend and the TA chose to run D trains through there.  What a circus that was.
