New bus announcements

Recently I have heard the "Welcome Aboard Metrobus" announcement more often, and IIRC that announcement used to be played when the bus was not in service and the operator opened the door while the Clever Device was on, but now it seems as regular as the Safety announcement.

What really annoys me the most is the Nextbus announcement, it seems like an infomercial being played on the bus even though it's something that could benefit riders by telling them how to check for the next bus.

but yeah...I have been hearing them in most, if not, all of the DC area buses, I don't really know about Landover, Bburg, or Annex yet...

George, the new bus announcements are now heard on most of the Metrobuses from 1998-present.  Four Mile Run's buses have the new announcements, as does Bladensburg, Landover, Montgomery, Northern & Western.  I don't know about Annex (which I rarely ride in any of their buses), Royal or West Ox (formerly Arlington) yet.

Hey George if you think the Next Bus announcement was annoying remember the SmarTrip announcement? They played it in Spanish and English. It took about 10 min to finish it up.

I remember that one. It was around the end of last year into this year when transfers were discontinued. I remember hearing that announcement everyday in both English and Spanish. Starting to sound like SoCal.

last year??? I really don't remember, and I have been riding WMATA at the time, and even before.
