More teasers from the latest update to my website at www.orenstransitpage.com.  These are all from Ithaca, NY, and all taken in the past 3 weeks or so.

First off, the TCAT replica trolley is making some appearances, despite being removed from service entirely for quite a long time.  Based on when and where it appears, I'm guessing there is an equipment shortage or they are having trouble making pull-out.

Next up, TCAT is still operating one 1989 swing-door Orion I.  This is the only non-ADA compliant bus in the fleet, so it is only allowed on certain routes at certain times.  It seems to be running most weekday afternoons at this point.  For how long?  Only time will tell...

Finally, TCAT recently ordered a single, El Dorado Aero Elite.  Not sure why exactly they ordered a cutaway and why they only ordered one, but they did.  Here are some photos of it:

Here are other recent TCAT photos from the past few weeks:

Naturally, they fixed the Chapter House sign a day or two after I took this photo:

Excellent as always, but am I the only one here who laughed at the return o the fake trolley, the order of the single new cutaway, and that 130 seems to have more than a million lives (and might be the last swing-door Orion I left running in the US)?

Seeing those cutaways reminded me of the one plus Ride On's Helldorados have: that having the wheelchair lift up front is a lot more aesthetically pleasing than at the way rear.

Thanks.  Don't try making too much sense out of some of what TCAT does.  You might hurt your head from thinking too hard about the most illogical things.

Even more than WMATA? :) Having cut my transit teeth on probably the worst pair of TA's out there, TCAT can't be that overly illogical...can it?

Looking at those pictures makes me wish that someone in this area would buy LFS's when Nova's new plant is running. I know WMATA would be out but imagine them in Fairfax Connector or Circulator colors...

Yes, TCAT does some very illogical things with regards to service increases or responding to overcrowded trips, among other things.  If a trip gets overcrowded, they either send out two buses to cover that trip or the next time the schedule changes, they just add a new trip 2-3 minutes before the existing one.  Go to their website and take a look at the Route 32 schedule in the morning, as an example.  Ithaca is also a college town, yet some routes run at "peak" levels during rush hour even in the summer, which just results in having lots of empty buses running around.  The doubled up buses usually just result in one bus being crowded and the other being fairly empty.

The trolley originally was powered by natural gas, but TCAT doesn't have CNG facilities, so they had to drive it to a nearby NYSEG facility, which could provide fuel for the trolley.

Their destination sign readings make no sense, and they even mispelled the word "North" once on a headsign.

I could go on...
