I know usually we post photos of trains and buses on this forum, but did anyone else go out to watch Space Shuttle Discovery fly over the DC area today?  I biked down to the Lincoln Memorial and got there just in time to watch the shuttle go by, both from the east and west sides of the memorial.  Quite a sight to see, and I was not the only person out there.  Definitely worth getting up and out for.

Here are some of my photos:

Great pics Oren!  I got just one with my iPhone:-).  I had an excellent view as my office overlooks the Potomac.  This AM, I thought about my camera after I had left for work, but I was too lazy to go back for it.

Thanks everyone!

It came early, I think it passed by the Lincoln Memorial for the first time at 9:55.  Those of us there were just trying to run (or in my case, bike) around to where we thought the next best vantage point would be after each loop, and had no clue if there was more to come until someone noticed a plane taking off from National Airport, which almost certainly meant they weren't coming back with the shuttle.  I get that weather/security concerns made it hard or impossible to post a schedule or route in advance but it was a bit frustrating to not know when and where it would go.  At least when we chase buses and trains, they generally stick to predetermined routes!

You know, I had completely forgotten about this. I saw Discovery on top of the 747 last year (Apirl 2012 IIRC). I took the 5A early in the morning to Dulles International Airport to see it. Needless to say, it was epic!  8)
