Fairfax County Silver line station name survey

Here were my votes (from inbound going out):

Scotts Run
Tysons Corner Center
Westpark Drive
Spring Hill Road
Whiele Avenue
Reston Town Center
Herndon-Monroe
Innovation (though honestly, it was a tossup between this and Coppermine for me on this one, there is no great name for this station IMO)

I voted, thanks for the link.  I picked "McLean" instead of "Scotts Run", "Sunrise Valley Drive" instead of "Innovation", "Route 7 & Route 123" instead of "Westpark Drive."

I wonder who still refers to Tysons Corner Center and Tysons Galleria as Tysons I and II anymore.

I voted, thanks for the link.  I picked "McLean" instead of "Scotts Run", "Sunrise Valley Drive" instead of "Innovation", "Route 7 & Route 123" instead of "Westpark Drive."

Sunrise Valley Drive is a bad chose because it is roughly the same distance away the Wiehle Avenue, Reston Parkway and Herndon-Monroe stations as Sunrise Valley Drive parallels the access / toll road between Hunter Mill Road and Sully Road.

The station is closer to Westpark Drive then is to "Route 7 & Route 123". I don't like the idea of using a state highway numbers in station names, in particular i don't like the word route when referring numbered highways. Westpark Drive is a bad name chose to because there is a Westpark Drive just east of the the Tysons Central 123 station. If you're still hell bent on using 7 123 interchange as a station name you might consider Leesburg Pike and Chain Bridge Road.

Honestly WMATA should make a few exceptions for the 19 letter limit just like how it is with the Regan Airport station, in this case for Innovation you could just call it Coppermine-Innovation (20 chars or 21 if you count the dash)

When the survey is closed I would like to see a spreadsheet of the all of totals for the names listed including the write ins. I will bet we well not see that spreadsheet because the totals will likely not agree with what Fairfax County Board ends up approving through resolution.

I wrote in Reston East for Wiehle Avenue mainly because that lot is considered as Reston East. As for the other ones, I think I picked Tysons Corner Center, Tysons-Westpark (should've worked if it wasn't for that "station" along Greensboro), Herndon-Monroe, Coppermine Crossing (write in).

When I did the survey these were my choices:

Pike Seven Plaza
Spring Hill Road

Reston Parkway
Herndon - Monroe
Innovation

After seeing the choices and reading comments by other in the various other forums I posted this thread in, I have decided to "revise and extend my remarks"

Scotts Run (Stream of same name passes under the elevated just east of the east end of the platform)
Tysons Center (Thought that covered all the bases)
Pike Seven Plaza (In front of the shopping center of the same name)
Spring Hill Road (Name of cross street at the station)
Whiele Avenue (Name of cross street at the station)
Reston Parkway (Name of cross street at the station)
Herndon - Monroe (Adjacent and connected to the existing transit facility of the same name)
Innovation (Toss up between Innovation and Coppermine, also thought of Horse Pen as the road by that name once bisected the station site before access / toll road was built)

I have concluded that using Tysons Corner, Tysons or Reston in a hyphenated station name is redundant. Those that have worked or done business in the area of the stations will know that those stations are in either Tysons Corner or Reston.

Actually. I think Innovation-Coppermine wouldn't have a bad ring to it.
