I wonder if that bus was bought by one of the shuttle providers that take people to and from the Pentagon and Rosslyn government/military buildings.  I have seen CNG Bluebird school type buses.  I think some of those were CNG buses.  They also operated a 30 foot RTS a year or so back.  Maybe they replaced that RTS and Bluebirds with that C40LFR and maybe the Gillig CNG bus.

PLEASE don't tell me the Gilligs are moving back to Silver Spring!

They're not. I saw 5731 and 5733 on the 55 today, as well as six-count 'em-SIX Orion VIIs; 5934*, 5902, 5920*, 5946, 5947, and 5957. (*=I rode that bus)

I also saw two Gillig Phantoms at GTC today: 5387 on the 75, and 5367 on the 98.

Three interesting observations as I moved around the area today:
1) Metrobus: #2458 operating U5/U6 service with passengers at Texas Avenue & Ridge Road SE displaying "NOT IN SERVICE" on all three destination signs.  This service seems to attract a large number of buses with malfunctioning destination signs.
2) Greyhound 102DL3 travelling northbound on I395 (SE-SW Freeway) with the destination sign "TIJUANA."  I don't think I would take that trip unarmed! 
3) CSX powering the Tropicana Orange Juice train over the Potomac River bridge bound for New Jersey.  Unfortunately most of the white box cars had been sprayed with a lot of graffiti.

1. It might be the common login tied into the Clever Devices that switched it to not in service given if the bus was running late. If it's the end of the assignment, it'll do this (still schedule based and not GPS based for switching the signs).
2. Orale.
3. What time did you see Q740 going across the Pomac? Plus, yea, white spaces seem to attract alot of artwork.

Thank you for the information and comments (especially Orale!).  Bus #2458 was actually in the initial part of its run at that point having just left Minnesota Avenue Metro a few minutes earlier.  I didn't  know about the timed destination signs.  I saw Q740 at approximately 1:00 PM on Thursday.

6607 is @ CET plus there is a C40LF that's been retired due to it being toasted it has a grey sheet like cover over it I couldn't see the number but although it's burnt you can tell very well it's a C40LF.

There were a few LFAs on the "ready" line at CET when I passed by there on the NEC. They might have been being prepped for delivery to the garages.
