DC Transit Today / Sandy Aftermath

MTA bus and Metro resume at 12:00 Noon. Light rail later today after grade crossing gates reinstalled. Gates taken down to prevent wind damage.


WMATA back on line at 2:00PM on a Sunday schedule.


Ride-On, The Bus, FFX, ART, DASH still off line.

Just checked the Megabus web site and all NEC service is cancelled for today.


BoltBus is down until Wednesday.


Greyhound is suspended NYC-PHL-BAL-DC-RIC-NFK plus service east of Cleveland/Pittsburgh

Testing will be done overnight. Maryland tests will be between Perryville and Wilmington.

According to a Daimler-Benz press release on Trevor Logan's web site, Orion is kaput at the end of the year. No new orders are being taken and the current orders will be completed. Also D-B is about close a deal with MCI where D-B will invest in MCI and MCI will market and distribute D-B's Setra coaches. Very sad for Orion's employees in Ontario and New York.


Now we know why Orion's web site has been stalled. Unfortunately market forces are at work as transit procurement budgets have been slashed. Too many builders, not enough orders.
