"Carrollton" is easy to spell. Nice pics.
Great Pix. . Thanks for sharing them.
I have a cpl of old pix. . how do I post them, so they will show up?
If they are on your PC set up a photobucket account upload the photos on it then copy and paste the IMG link under the photos. Thats how i do it.
Note the larger "CAUTION" decal on the right rear of 2335. That same decal was also sighted on 2317, 2338, 2357 & 2402.

2665 and its new sign

Bleh! Its aight for the scheme but other then that its just plain ugly! And is that a new Block number box thingy i see? Like the one that lights up like the newest buses we got?
So all the repainted buses in the Express scheme are going to have a sign on the driver's side of the bus too?
That sign is multi-colored right?
What a waste of money to be replacing all these perfectly good signs and installing signs on the driver's side of the bus. I'd like to think there are far better things for WMATA to spend its limited cash supply on.

if you ask me, the signs that 2802-2814 have are "bleh!" (as well as the express 6400s)...this sign on 2665 is a lot nicer than the other signs imo.
And I agree with Oren, there's really no point to replacing perfectly good signs with these...I think WMATA should find better things to spend on...either way, those are nice signs imo

It's the same sign. Luminator Horizon Spectrum. The only difference is the height of the side signs similar to the ones Chicago has on theirs.

Agreed. They look nice, but I hear those signs cost several thousands of dollars. Does seem like a waste to pull perfectly good signs out of a bus that's barely 4 years old.
I miss the Aesys sign on 2164. I thought NJT was going to get them on their NABIs after they tested them out on their MCIs (plus I think the US hq of the company is in NJ). Also, the TITAN sign on 2801 mustve cost a crap load (if only the sign could work properly).

yeah I miss when 4247, 2164 and 2165 had them...at least 2163 still has it.
What I really miss is the purple sign on 4212, I never got a chance to get a photo of it

This is the only shot I ever got of 4212 when it had that sign. Had one on the left side too.

I remember seeing 4212 with that sign on the P6 at RI Ave Station. It was white.

picture proof shows that you're right...though it seemed a bit purple-ish...
i don't know...last time I saw that bus, it was on the P6 but I saw it from a long distance...last time I saw it close up was on the 90 near Ellington Bridge...I could have sworn it was purple...I don't know...

Midlife rehab? Wasn't that bus an LED sign test bus when all the other buses had their original signs?
At least 2665 wasn't the only one that got "green-crushed." 2815 got "green-crushed" as well.
Here's some of my pictures ranging from last month to 3 days ago:
Unusual things to point out:
-4273's sign says "54 Lafayette Square"
-3025 on TAGS instead of the usual cutaways

I think they go by their S route numbers. I have to ride the S80 another time, but usually they have those cutaways on that route.

I think this bus had the signs after the rehab and yup the other buses still had their horrible Vultron P.O.S.. They were a test for what runs on the 79, S9 and other express 6400s (and 2665). On that bus I have only seen two colors white and light purple, even though it of course could do other colors.
George:
Great pics. Would it be possible to adjust the lens so you can get the entire bus into the picture? Enjoyable pics otherwise. Living in Baltimore, I don't get the opportunity to observe too many Washington area buses. I depend on you guys for that process.
Keep them coming.
Chuck

Touche, my friend! I actually got lucky as I had some time to kill this AM in Silver Spring. I decided to bring along my camera and 5757 wasted no time in showing up. I saw a bunch of the hybrids and I didn't even pay attention to the numbers. My guess is that I didn't see a renumbered bus as I would've likely noticed and photographed it.

A friend of mine spotted one of these buses on the 49 the day before I took these pictures, so I was actually looking for one of these. I went to Silver Spring (at the Ride-On section...where the 1, 5, 12, 15, etc stop at...)...didn't see anything, started walking down to where the 9 stops at, and saw 5757 arriving, but it left as soon as I got there, and I got no pic. I then waited for the next Q or Y bus to go to Wheaton, got a Y8, and barely arrived before it.
Got the pics of 5757, got the next Y bus to Glenmont, and got a pic of 5754, it finished service and left the station immediately. Waited for the next 49 to Rockville, found 5307, got a shot, then went home. So yeah, I had a lucky day IMO...until I found that you got a picture before me...lol...
For Ride On, the old 5754 is now 5304. The old 5757 is now 5307.
If the renumbering is how I'm guessing, then it might go like this:
Old New
5750 5300
5751 5301
5752 5302
5753 5303
5754 5304
5755 5305
5756 5306
5757 5307
5758 5308
5759 5309
5760 5310
5761 5311
5762 5312
5763 5313
5764 5314
The new order of hybrids start out at 5315 on up, so this would suit the 15 already on the fleet.

umm...there was never a hybrid 5764...
anyways...yeah this is what I thought would happen, and it seems like the renumbering is going fine so far...at least they're not replacing them with cheap-ass numbers like they did for 5700-5703 and 5997-5999 (except 5702...)
5747 on the 47...third reported new-scheme Gillig in service (the other two are 5754 and 5757). I rode this one, and there's almost no difference on the inside, except that there is a larger "Video Surveillance Warning" sign (also mentioning audio surveillance), with a Spanish translation.

4069 broke down at Silver Spring. That's too bad. And you also noticed that 5735 (seen further up this page) has a standard bike rack.

Sweet pics Wayne. Was there something going on with the Red Line today. I don't remember seeing any advisories about it.

Oh yea. I forgot about that.
Went busfanning today and didn't get that much.

4379 on the 38B
now that's quite a shocker!
though I have seen this before (of course, after FMR has gone all CNG)...it was a 9300 on the 38B, like a few months ago (maybe even a year ago)
how inconvenient that the wheelchair guy gets the one high-floor bus out of like 200 low-floors...
Today:
9399 has been orange crushed:

Part of me is wondering if these guys are "visitors" to Gaithersburg garage. I saw 5727 all weekend tooling around on the 46, 55 and 59. This afternoon, I found this guy entering Lakeforest.

btw are those Flx Metro-Es down there?
Hey George, nice catch with 2561 on the 32. I've been told that FMR operates the 30s routes, but I've never actually seen an FMR bus on that line until now.. I guess its just a Rush Hour thing. What other DC routes does FMR operates, besides the P6, if you know or if anybody knows?
So Bladensburg, Western, Annex, and FMR operate the 30s. But its mainly operated by Western.
Brandon, nice catches with the C22 and the 37fts at CET. I hope some of the DE42LFAs go to the B30. If Landover gets some Express LFAs, hopefully they'll have suburban seats and be used on the B30.
I've heard that one of the DE42LFAs have suburban seats, don't know which one, though.

ya know...within the past 2 weeks, I saw an FMR bus on the 32 in the morning and later see the same bus on the 25A at Shirlington...last week it was 2556 and yesterday it was 2561...

I think thats about it for what DC routes FMR operates.
Surburban seats? Ha. Could happen to get maybe a couple on the B30. Only thing is, 295 tends to be crappy in certain locations and those bumps can do some bad.

L99. Employee shuttle.
Needs buses with their own paint scheme? What a waste...
it takes the 3900s off that route...
u think the Naylor Road shuttle will use these as well?

The suburban seaters might be the upper 6400s...the highest one I've seen is 6457 so maybe 6458 and up will be suburban
...then again I haven't seen the inside of 6457 so it might be suburban
speaking of interiors, does anyone know where I can find that picture of 2550's interior? I wanna see how it looks like.
It is an employee shuttle, it doesn't matter what runs there.
