Title: RTC Las Vegas Bus Accident
Post by: Perry on June 05, 2009, 10:19:41 AM
Unfortunately, another accident between an impaired motorist and one of our bus stops/shelters. I heard the car was traveling at 76 mph before he lost control, but that could just be random talk. Fortunately, a passenger that was alighting the bus at the time wasn't seriously injured when the bumper of this car flew off and hit them. The shelter was destroyed, the car is destroyed, the bus will be fine, only very minor damage. This is a pretty busy stop and luckily the bus was there already picking up people. 5 minutes earlier and this could have been a disaster.

We've had a couple high profile accidents due to speeding/impaired motorists and losing control and rolling over hitting our passengers, some fatally....

Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt, especially since your description and the accompanying photo suggest this could have been far worse.

Yeah, it was very fortunate nobody was exposed directly to the car going out of control.  I can't believe he didn't hit any other cars careening across the street.
