Very cool!  Yet another reason to visit Roanoke VA.  Roanoke also has a wonderful railroad museum with the two famous N&W A & J class steam locomotives.  Thanks for the information.

Absolutely right, here is the web site http://www.commonwealthcoach.org/ (http://www.commonwealthcoach.org/) The guy who run the Va. Museum of Transportaion also runs the "buseum" as we call it. It's all volunteer we meet every Wed and third Sat, but give me a notice and I'll make sure it'll be open. Grant it you won't be disappointed.

Love to have you all come visit, but just remember advance notice is a must. Lot of the guys have crazy hours and as for myself I'm a reservist also and they change schedule on me quite often  ::) . Thanks Mark

The GRTC #309 was resently painted back to its old livery. It look good however look closely and see if you have the same issues that I do about restoration. I like to get a job back to its original as much as possible.

o  Side signals are not original.

o  Rim- correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe Richmond ran them on the Flx's

o  GRTC logo on tailgate don't believe they done that either...but that looks good  I like it, however not original.

o  Rear marker one or two not original.

o  Posting and placement of the US flag...That's another post altogether, we'll talk.

o  The CC&T logo seem too big and could be stragetly position not to take away from the original livery.

....but overall it look great and glad to keep thr memories alive.
On another note the DASH Orion blew the xmsn and needs to be repaired thanks the folks up north we have the xmsn, and just got to put it in. You all take care

Oh! 309 runs great also.

Hey Mark. Does your camera record video? If it does try to get some of the buses moving. I would love to hear the engines.

This is after we've gotten it. We were bus hunting down in Lynchburg...this is what we found. Where it is now I don't know..could never get in touch with anyone about it. I believe it ran in DC as AB&W.

Mark: great picture but I don't believe that bus ran for AB&W because the color scheme is wrong.  AB&W buses of the TDH type were painted in variations of red, black and white.  Thanks for the picture.

We look up the info on the builders plate (wish I'd Taken a photo of it)( lesson learned )....and it point it in the direction of Wash., D.C., now look closely at the engine brackets on the inner side you'll notice red and traces of a black stripe....also look on the front where the headlight was you'll see where the bus used to be red this bus has been painted at some point in it life...anyway maybe someone out there can clear up this mystery, in the mean time enjoy a few more pic of it. Mark

Looks and sounds just as good as it did the day we sent her off.  Good work keeping her in DASH condition :-)  I miss riding these to work and then working around them, they were just great buses.  Their only competition was brick walls!  They're about as strong as a Fishbowl but with most of the modern creature comforts, although we somehow ordered them with wheelchair lifts but no kneel, something the operators really griped about in their later days.  They also only had one securement location.  I especially miss that growl from 1st to 2nd (hope that didn't scare you too much at first!).  Get her on a hill and she'll growl like a lion all the way to the top.

We're retiring some 1996 Gillig Phantoms now, but I wonder if you might already be after one?

I remember back in the day when I used to ride the DASH Orion Is...near the end of their lives, anyway.  They ran and sounded great!

Now, is this museum just for Virginia based buses?

Yeah, that's their niche....back me up Mark or Fred, but I think it's all VA stuff?

Sorry so long on the reply been out of town. To me any bus worth saving in a muesum, buseum, or whatever is worth it no matter where it comes from. It's true CC&T only caters to Va. based properties (including D.C.) but it's not because we want to, the issue is space. In the pass few years we found more old relics waiting to be saved in sw Va. alone, and storing them is slowly becoming a situation that our budget can't handle. Believe me if I ever won the lottery or came across a large sum of money :o...........well you know the rest. ;D
