And Brandon...VanGo buses can be pretty much used in any other route. I remember this one era where every day I kept seeing a variety of VanGo buses on the 45...and I think yesterday I even saw one of the newer ones (5183 I think) on the 79. Plus...2626 was always a Bladensburg bus...so seeing it on the 83 isn't much news.
Oh I thought that was a FMR bus. Oh well.

Probably a driver's mistake. As Oren says, RIDE ON as well as other T/As that have electronic signs have the ability to put mostly every, if not every destination in the T/A. There are 2700s that might have the "F14 NEW CARROLLTON" in it, 6000s with "9A HUNTINGTON" in them and so on. You never know what might happen, just like what happened years ago when RIDE ON had its fuel issue, granted some WMATA buses took over temporarily RIDE ON routes till the crisis was over but overall mostly all T/As will do it.
It could be a mistake or an emergency fill in for broken down Silver Spring bus, till another Silver Spring bus was found.

Besides that, the rest of the John Deeres are branded for the 16, 9S, and REX...so looks like VA is stuck with the slow Cummins Orion VIIs =(

And thank you for proving my point about the rampant misconceptions with regards to articulated buses on this message board. There was a discussion about ways to assign artics to routes some time ago, I don't think we need another one to rehash the same points right now.
With regards to the OP that the 90 needs artics, just because a route is crowded does not mean that it "needs" or could be better served with artics. I think that is all that needs to be said about the topic.
I saw 9489 on Fox45 News tonight. On a route that goes through College Park. Its still in the old red white blue scheme.

I can still tell you what the deal is. The Champions are under warranty thus Montgomery County's mechanics can't touch those vehicles maintenance wise which in turns means there is a longer turn around to get buses back on the road. In other words Nicholson will be borrowing equipment until the new baby Gilligs come in this summer.

Why would the warranty on the Champions be that... onerous? Wouldn't any bus be under warranty that early on? Sounds like Ride On got a very bum deal from Champion if their own mechanics can't touch them...

Generally speaking, when any bus begins to spew smoke in copius quantities it is due to a turbocharger failure. Or it is due to a failure of the fuel injection system which is feeding more fuel than air into the engine. This causes the engine to run "rich", where more fuel than air is being injected in to the system.

Why is 9310 important, why is it at CET and what is a truck bus
Honestly i dont know the story of 9310, maybe they want to retire,overhaul it or something and what some of us call a truck bus is a cutaway.
I'm over 2,000 miles away and I know that bus is still there. LOL
I was in the shower and when I came out, I noticed 2 messages were left on my phone.
It was Ken...saying that he just saw 6427, 6428, and 6433 on the S9...I'm assuming they're in the express scheme.
Rumor has it that a lot of the LFAs will be in service come May 3. Not sure. I figured those Express LFAs at CET were going to be in service soon. Time to head back to SSS.

Still no word on when the DE37s will come in let alone the fleet numbers.

about a year or two ago, I took 4060 on the 25B from Van Dorn to Ballston...and everytime the operator opened the door, the exterior speakers said in his own voice "25B to Ballston Metro"
Where are they located? I've never seen them on Flxibles E's or B's
That might be coming from the farebox...., yes the farebox. Some fareboxes have the ability to "speak". A lot of the buses based out of Arlington did that.

Literally about 20 min ago, i saw Ride-On's 5404 deadheading on I-270 NORTHbound at around Quince Orchard/Mont. Village Ave...I wonder what Ride-On is up to now...
Also, I noticed 35-footers showing up on the 55 more often than usual...I mean earlier I saw 5904 on the 55...and other days I see a bunch of them come by at Montgomery College (both Germantown and Rockville)...on the 55 of course.
It's ironic since Gaithersburg just got more 40-footers recently...(5710-5725 in case you forgot)

Gaithersburg recently received 16 of the 1999 Orion V regular diesel 40' buses from Silver Spring. And now, Ride On's Gaithersburg garage has all of the 40' Orion Vs (regular diesel & CNG).

Not sure what the blocking is like these days, but I know in the past, there was a time of day when the shifts were changing and there was a trip or two that had to be covered by a non-40 foot block. It is possible you are seeing that. Otherwise, they just aren't assigning the buses where they usually do.
If you are a Metro B fan, you might want to get those B pics, rides and vids in because they are about to get their last rights.
OH BTW 9310 may not be at CET anymore, because it is probably NOW at the LANDOVER AUCTION LOT. I passed over said lot this evening and saw a whole bunch of ice cream *ahem* Orion IIs sitting there along with 9 Metro Bs.

The DE42LFAs are probably going to enter service faster because when I went passed C.E.T. earlier in the day, there were about 8 Flyers there, and passing there tonight, those were gone.
So it seems the locals are going to their perspective garages. 6434 makes 6 expresses on the S9, which leaves only 4 or so left to fill. I wonder when the DE37s will come in and something tells me that these buses might be labled as 6500s.
ok so I am now in Florida...but on the way to Dulles Airport via Metrobus...I saw the following (no pics this time, sorry):
-6024 on the 53 to Takoma Station
-An unidentified 63/6400 in the Local paint scheme on 11th and Pennsylvania Ave (possible Western bus on the 63/64?)
-9390 headed southbound in the direction of the 30s (not sure if it was on the 34, 39 or the other 30s, so it's possible that it's at Western, Blad., or Annex)
-9313 on the V7 at L'enfant Plaza
-More 6400 express buses spotted on the S9 today...including 6426, 6427 (which I rode), 6430, 6434, and I think also 6429.
Then rode 2703 on the 5A to Dulles Airport. Seriously, I had NO idea how horribly crowded it was gonna get...either the 5A should get more artics or they should restore the 5B to extend it to Herndon/Monroe P&R since that's where the grand majority of people got off. Seriously, wayyyyy too crowded.

I heard the DE42LFA's will be in service by next week. I hope so to. And i hope that the Metro B's will live to see 2010. And WES when you said Auction lot, Thats means its ready to be sold in an auction some time soon?

A DE42LFA FINALLY visible at Landover! I think it was hiding this whole time. Also, when I read the Express this morning a man was spraying 6045 (a bus which I still have not seen in service) to protect it against the swine flu. A DE42LFA was sitting behind 6045 in the picture. So I'll take a wild guess that there are currently 2 LFAs visible at Landover.

Not really, they just keep them there, sometimes to make room for the new buses to come in. Sometimes they are sold quickly and sometimes they stay for a while.
Does anyone know why the exaust pipe on 5204 is facing backwards?
