Title: WMATA Bus Operator stabbing in SE
Post by: rideonrulez on February 28, 2009, 11:16:45 AM
There was a blurb on the channel 4 news last night that a WMATA Bus Operator on the route A2 was stabbed in the leg over a fare dispute.  >:( It's a shame that it had to come to that...

first of all imnot asking you 4 anything im asking that u dont put things on here until its cleared of what happen see thats why people like you always get locked when going on our property.

I guess you are illiterate, I said it was on the news last night for the 3rd time now. So there, it was announced to ALL of the Channel 4 viewers in the DC area last night. Just repeating what was said.

It was in the rotation on WTOP this morning too. It was announced to all their listeners too. Once something hits the news, not much you can do to stop the discussion.

A Western operator I know as well as a few passengers were talking about it as well on the 31 today. Shame how people lack common sense to reason with themselves not to commit such a stupid act over something as small as paying the fare.

Maybe the guy wasnt using SmarTrip like the other day i was on the X2 and like a couple stops away from Minnesota Ave we picked up a passenger who tryed the put money in the farebox the operator won't let him and that operator was on high blood  pressure and stuff when the passenger actually put his hand on the operator then the operator actually shut up then the passenger got off the bus threw a bunch of rocks at the window i dont know if that has anything to do with this but yeah.

wow that sucks, I hope the operator is doing allright...I wonder if it had to do with the no transfer policy or the cash fare being $1.35...I mean, other cities have it worse.

It would suck on SO many levels if the stabbing was related to this.

On the other hand, this is a quite stupid situation. It's just like some stupid "MF" shooting people in a nightclub just because "Dat nukka stepded on mah shues main!!!".

But then again, in these times of economic uncertainty, God knows how far one will go to save a dollar.

The operator is out of Southern division and the operator is a good friend of mine so I do apologize if I came off wrong to any of you it was a stressful day.

This happen on the route A2 on the "avenue"

"WE HERE AS SUPERVISORS AT METRO ARE TRYING OUR BEST TO PROTECT OUR OPERATORS WITH PLAIN CLOTHES OFFICERS  ,BUT MORE TO COME"

I saw a couple of these plainclothes officers on the B2 one day.

Note the irony.

Just like the security at a Sears I worked at 20 years ago.  They would walk around with their walkie talkies wrapped in a plastic bag. LOL
